2003 Jetta TDI

Sorry to hear about doors, leaks, and problems with your Jettas. We have a 2003 TDI and LOVE it. Bought it for the wife when she went back to school. (Traded in a Jeep Liberty Gas Hog) She drove it untill graduation and we loved it so much we bought a 2009 TDI. I have now taken over the '03 as a work car. Average 43 mpg back and forth to work. I also have to commend VW for me fitting comfortably in the car as I am 6'6"and weigh 240. As far as maintenance, again two thumbs ************ my oil by the book . The other filters are changed on schedule. We have two TDI's and looking forward to a third when the little one turns 16. Thinking Beetle TDI ! ! ! ! !

I had trouble from the beginning--not major but little things that persist today, 6 years later, and are driving me to replace this disappointing car: transmission jerks, CD player is crap--keeps on noting error and stops playing--oil leak, shift handle sticking when going from P to R or D, sound system in back non-existent, had to replace tires (after "normal" wear and tear) and not much mileage and easy driving conditions. I am scrupulous about maintaining my car and I drive under normal conditions and this car has given me little nagging problems--too many to suit me. I am now in the market for another car but based on my experience, I am staying away from VW.

The Jetta I owned was a silver 2003 model. It worked out beautifully for my family and I. While some are hesitant ********* reliability, I found otherwise. I had my 2003 Jetta for 5 years and have had minor problems with it. It drives smooth, has great safety ratings, and gets pretty good mileage to the gallon. I would highly recommend this car.
