2003 Focus Owner Reviews (4)
Peppy Little car with true "Ford Quality"

This car is fun to drive for what it is and very affordable. The one problem is durability of the radio and engine. I have talked to multiple people who have all had the radio volume knob, disk changer, and thermostat housing all break. These seem to be common issues with the plastic heavy fords of the early 2000's. Overall I would say this is the perfect first car for any teen, and held up considerably well for the 130,000 miles I have put on mine.
a real bargain

Purchased used with 40,000 miles. I have had no issues with car and have only needed routine maintenance. the car does have the 2.3 liter engine with auto transmission and performance is quite brisk. Handling is excellent ( my son calls it the go-cart ) and very controlled. Fuel economy around town is not great, but on the highway is great- 30+ with the a/c on. I now have two 2oo3 focus cars, the other is a sedan and looking forward to the 2012 model which is the european focus currently sold there.
Get This Car Off The Road
This car is a serious danger and Ford has done little to protect the people with older models. The radio catches fire, the doors and trunk don't stay locked, the cds jam, factory tires blow, won't hold a tire balance, dash lights don't work, and the key won't turn in the ignition.....all in three years!!!
More Than Adequate!
Purchased used in 2005 from a Ford dealer at 12,450 miles, it has performed reliably and flawlessly in all weather and road conditions. The fuel mileage is 30 MPG typically although the base engine requires a heavy foot to merge or stay ahead in freeway traffic. I have had zero problems with the electrical system or any major powertrain components. The car is roomy and comfortable. Road noise is minimal and the car has no wind or water leaks around the glass or doors. It's a tight fitting well made little car. Used, these cars are bargains. The price is thousands less than new while the car still has a fairly new appearance. The 2003 has the classic Focus styling. The newer style has varied little from the classic one. The interior has changed very little since 2000 and still looks familiar in the 2007 models.
