2001 Altima rust
I owned a 2001 Nissan Altima purchased by me new from Nissan of Brandon in Brandon, Florida. I faithfully had the car serviced and maintained for 5 years only at the Dealer I bought it from. In almost 5 years nothing was ever disclosed to me about the serious rust issue underneath the vehicle. Luckily, a gentleman hit my car or I would have never known. The dealer did the repairs; and almost every week after the accident there was something new wrong with the car. Prior to the accident I had no mechanical problems with the car. I concluded that the dealer did not properly inspect and repair the car for all the damage that was truly done from the accident. I took the car to an independent auto body shop for a thorough inspection. The mechanic put it on the rack and the whole underneath was rusted out so badly that the mechanic told me I needed to get rid of the car because it was dangerous to drive since I was driving on expressways everyday. My intent was to keep this car for several more years and not have car payments. Exterior and Interior were in perfect condition - looked brand new. The car was garaged at home and at work. I confronted the dealer about why I was never made aware of the rust problem and demanded they make any and all repairs to the vehicle under the rust corrosion warranty which was still in effect under the 5 year period. The car had never been up north in snow or ice nor had the car been kept anywhere near the ocean. I got nowhere with the dealer nor the Nissan area rep, etc.. I then contacted Nissan corporate directly and filed a complaint -they ignored me!. Would not stand behind their vehicle warranties. I got rid of the car and I have told a number of people since then thinking about buying a Nissan not do do so and gave them my story. Nissan has done nothing and they have been allowed to do nothing. All lthese years later why have these vehicles not been recalled and Nissan forced to repair/replace!!!
