Seyth Miersma

Senior Editor (email | twitter | google+) Subscribe to RSS

Raised and groomed in the art of car writing by way of the magical internet, Seyth Miersma has carved out a career in the automotive world by telling stories about great roads and great cars. With fleeting exceptions being made for a few newspapers in Texas, Miersma’s words have been rendered with ones and zeros in the digital pages of Winding Road magazine, where he began as a freelancer in 2006 and left as Editor-in-Chief in 2012. Miersma brings the experience of hundreds of car reviews and comparison tests to the Autoblog crew, as well as a love for first-wave Japanese imports, racing video games that only rarely involve stuff blowing up, and driving through the dark of a fall morning in third gear with the radio off. He is very tall (the 97th percentile-set should read Miersma’s reviews with a close eye).

    Your Reputation Precedes You 1412956620

Rolls-Royce Director of Global Communications Richard Carter tells me that his storied employer is "a company that does not chase volume." In a perfect world, mused Carter, the carmaker would sell "one less" of its ultra-luxury vehicles than the fast-expanding world market demands.

Supercars Meet Muscle Trucks, In Search Of The Most Potent Twist 1412697480

Horsepower may steal a lot of headlines, but the always-more-complex torque figure is often a critical one for both the workingman and the motoring playboy. The measure of rotational force is a function of horsepower and engine rpm, and it's also the twist that can liquefy one's tires or haul one's ...

Paris: Renault Espace is the minivan that isn't [w/video]
    1412348400

A one-box shape, three-rows of seating, a huge feature set and sliding rear doors: these are the elements that make up what we know as "minivan." That's a category that the Renault Espace has headlined, in Europe, for decades now. Well, until the new generation's launch at this year's Paris Motor ...

Paris: 2015 Ford C-Max gets a corporate nose job [w/video]
    1412280060

Ford might not have the splashiest booth here at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, but the automaker is showing off quite a bit of hardware that will actually end up on roads across Europe. Parisians are no doubt tickled at getting to see the specifications of the Mustang tuned for The Continent (which ...

There are cars debuting in Paris this year that we've heard virtually nothing about until we showed up at Porte de Versailles, and others that we've hotly anticipated seeing for months or more. The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT falls distinctly into that second category. Approaching this year's ...

We love Motor Trend's annual World's Greatest Drag Race video. Now back for its fourth appearance, the idea of lining some of the world's fastest cars up for a ten-wide, straight-line, full-throttle run is, well... it's pretty freaking badass.

Slicker, Prettier And More Addictive Than Ever 1411628460

One of my early triumphs while playing the sparkling new Forza Horizon 2 for Xbox One came after what I could conservatively call a "non-traditional" motorsports experience. In a point-to-point street race across a lovingly rendered, sun-dappled corner of Europe, I transitioned from a winding ...

Dutch company Donkervoort may have launched its nutty D8 GTO a few years ago already, but that doesn't mean we find the car any less insane today.
