    1386633540

Jeff Bracken, Lexus' US group vice president and general manager, knows his company lost its position as America's biggest luxury brand back in 2011, and it's a mantle that his employer probably won't be getting back any time soon. That's because Lexus is electing not to follow the luxury ...

Tokyo: 2014 Nissan Serena offers big flexibility in a tidy package
    1385161260

In America, Nissan attempts to slake our kinschlepping needs with its slow-selling Quest minivan, but in Japan, where consumers seem a lot less reluctant to buy MPVs, there are a lot more models for every size family and budget. Nissan itself offers no fewer than six such minivans, including the ...

Tokyo: Mitsubishi AR Concept continues a wacky, wonderful tradition [w/video]
    1385065200

Mitsubishi enjoys a long history of thinking outside the literal box when it comes to designing minivans and people movers. Remember the Mitsubishi Van, a.k.a. Delica? How about the Chariot, better known to us as the Colt Vista? The Expo and Expo LRV, the twin models that succeeded it? These were ...

Tokyo: Mitsubishi XR-PHEV Concept is a chronicle of an Outlander Sport foretold [w/video]
    1385048400

Mitsubishi's current Outlander Sport has done a yeoman's job since it came on the market for the 2011 model year. The affordable crossover has been one of the few bright spots in the perennially troubled automaker's lineup – it's the brand's best seller in the US and sales are up nearly 40 ...

Los Angeles: 2014 Fiat 500C GQ Edition mans up [w/videos]
    1385043600

Fiat dealers recently welcomed the five-door 500L into their 'studios' as a much-needed second model line, but franchisees are still clamoring for additional new model ranges as most struggle to reach profitability. There's more in the pipeline for the reborn brand, but in the meantime, Fiat ...

Tokyo: Toyota Harrier gets a whale of a facelift [w/video]
    1385038680

Historically, the Toyota Harrier has been a doppelgänger for North America's Lexus RX – at some points, it was little more than a badge-swap and a few options away, at least aesthetically. That appears to be changing with this just-revealed new generation at the Tokyo Motor ...

Tokyo: Toyota JPN Taxi Concept is a Japanese riff on an English classic
    1384963320

As far as beasts of burden go, New York City's new – and much maligned – Nissan NV200 "Taxi of Tomorrow" isn't a bad one. It's space efficient, reasonably economical, and its simple construction should mean it's pretty robust over the long haul, too. But it lacks panache and a sense ...

Tokyo: Subaru Cross Sport Design Concept is a BRZ with a backpack
    1384961340

Sports cars are a notoriously tough sell over the long-term. Like convertibles, sales of even the best sports cars tend to be front-loaded in the first couple of years, at which point they drop off like a stone. That may serve to explain this mysterious two-door wagonback concept from Subaru, ...

    1384957740

"Vezel" may sound like the latest miracle cure from Big Pharma, but in truth it's the long-awaited Fit-based crossover from Honda. Unfortunate name aside, this four-door CUV looks ready for production, because it is. Shown here in hybrid guise, the subcompact Vezel looks quite sporty, with ...

Official: Honda reveals three new turbo VTEC engines, including Civic Type R 2.0L
    1384885740

It's fair to say that in recent years, Honda has been viewed as a laggard when it comes to engine and gearbox development, seemingly missing the boat on direct-injection, forced-induction and high gear-count transmissions, among other things. But under its Earth Dreams banner, the Japanese ...

Teased: Ken Okuyama readying minimalist Kode9 sportscar for Tokyo
    1384808340

When one thinks of design houses and small-volume specialty automaking, one rarely thinks of Japan. Designer Ken Okuyama is out to change that perception, but that doesn't mean he hasn't honed his talents in the Italian way, having worked for Pininfarina, where he oversaw the design of such cars ...

    1384558200

The 2014 Hyundai Accent is the latest car to get them, along ...

First Drive: 2015 Audi S3 Sedan
Like The B5 S4, Only Revisited And Remastered 1384275420

For the last few years, Audi has been publicly toying with building a successor to its Ur-Quattro, a model still glowing in a gritty patina of motorsports glory decades after it left the scene. If anything, the rally car's halo has burned brighter as Audi has matured into a world luxury ...

Official: Kia provides first details on Soul EV arrival, specs
    1384181940

When Bob Dylan and his guitar-driven poetry embraced the amp in the mid-Sixties, he famously endured cries of "Judas!" from at least one dejected folkie. The Voice Of A Generation had gone electric, and apparently not all of his concert-goers were ready for the transition. We suspect the Kia Soul ...

    1383943440

We've spoken at length previously about the fallacy of poor hatchback sales in the US, and with the runaway success of its Chevrolet Cruze sedan, it's somewhat unsurprising to hear that General Motors is rethinking its decision not to sell an overseas five-door variant in North America as it ...

    1382108460

Hyundai's Genesis sedan has been quite the sales success since it first launched in 2008 as a 2009 model, but its rear-wheel drive nature has limited its sales appeal in cold-weather states versus competitors like Audi, BMW, Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz, all of whom have offered all-wheel drive in ...
