A longtime automotive enthusiast, Brandon Turkus’ inauspicious beginnings in the industry (he was fired from his first car-related job at an exotic car dealer) have grown into a nearly 10-year career. During that time, he’s done everything from scheduling and delivering the same cars you see reviewed on Autoblog, to reviewing and photographing cars for Winding Road as Fleet Manager and Online Editor. Turkus is a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, a keen amateur photographer, and a fan of odd British roadsters and French hatchbacks.

    ETC: Military Terminology: AWACS
    1410364920

Technically known as airborne early warning and control systems, the phrase "AWACS" often serves as a catch-all for the US military's aerial command and control functions. The lead and most visible craft of this sort is the Boeing E-3 Sentry, a 707 that's been modified to accommodate a massive, ...

The Russian auto industry is not in a great place right now. A weakened currency, the rouble, is stinging automakers, and in the case of Volkswagen, has prompted a trimming of production. 1410357720

With $10 billion in development costs, the Global Hawk UAV has been an expensive proposition for the US Air Force over the course of its 15-year life. The huge UAV – its wingspan is nearly 30-feet wider than a U-2 spy plane and it's only two feet shorter than an F-16 – has become a ...

    Video: Meet Germany's ultra-aerodynamic car from 1939 [w/video]
    1410044580

By most historical accounts, the period between the first and second world wars was not a great time. Economic collapse, an entire continent in shambles, prohibition and the rise of the Nazis are the prime lowlights of the 1920s and 1930s. But, there was one small ray of excitement in this ...

    1409875080

Petrolicious has established quite a reputation as a producer of gorgeous videos that focus on rare, exclusive performance machines. That reputation isn't enough to preclude the video junkies to ignore the awesomness that is an old Land Rover on sand dunes, though. This week, Petrolicious ...

The troubles in Ferguson, MO have been well documented, but for every angle CNN and Fox News try to cover, few of them can match the attitude of someone that grew up in the area and fewer still can be presented without the troubling plague of sensationalism. Road & Track's Max Prince is a ...

    Review: 2015 Jaguar F-Type V6 S Coupe
The Middle Child Is Just Right 1409759820

My first, ill-fated job in the auto world was at an exotic car dealer in metro Detroit. The job itself sucked, but the cars, they were exceptional. Amidst a sea of Tiptronic Porsche Boxsters, first-gen Mercedes-Benz SLKs and abused second-generation Range Rovers, there were some real gems. In ...
