Chevy Suburban with 28 mpg? Not so fast, says Terrablog (UPDATE)

Voluntary carbon offset programs are a popular idea. Instead of making the more serious commitment to change vehicles – downshifting from a SUV to a compact, a compact to a hybrid or a hybrid to public transportation or bicycle (where reasonable) – someone can just pay money and let others work to clean up their pollution. While one of the more popular programs, TerraPass, claims to be effective, their program really just moves carbon pollution around on paper.

BMW's V10 wins international respect... again

Stiff competition from Volkswagen and Toyota failed to unseat BMW's 5-liter V10 engine as the best engine in the world for the second year in a row, according to the judges presenting at the International Engine of the Year Awards 2006 held at Engine Expo in Stuttgart, Germany. Volkswagen diesel sales rising with gas prices

Volkswagen of America is counting its lucky stars that it has a portfolio of diesel-powered models on the showroom floor as increasingly fuel-economy-conscious consumers look for relief from rising gas prices. In the first four months of the year, Volkswagen's TDI diesels accounted for more than 22 percent of total sales. In April, diesel sales accounted for more than 40-percent

We haven't touched on German coachbuilder Weismann in over a year, so we're pleased to revisit the niche manufacturer with some good news in hand. After 12 years of operation Weismann has produced its 500th Roadster model. While that may not seem like a lot after a dozen years with the doors open, consider that Weismanns are hand-built to each customer's specifications and go for well north of $100,000 US dollars. Po
