DIY Star Wars BB-8 droid hits the road in the Bay Area
This BB-8 isn't the product of technology from a long time ago or far, far away. It's simply an old garage sale sign painted to look like the movie character and attached to the rear wheel of a Toyota Corolla with industrial zip ties. The head is made with a custom googley eye and uses more zip ties and an industrial magnet to stay on the car. Apparently this BB-8 has survived freeway speeds as its owner drives around San Francisco. The do-it-yourself BB-8 has been seen rolling around the Bay Area, and even has its own hashtag. So far #ISpyBB8 has appeared 46 times on Instagram.
This isn't the first time Star Wars movies have made an appearance in car form. Last year, Dodge had three Star Wars-themed muscle cars roaming the streets of Los Angeles in celebration of the release of The Force Awakens. The cars included a Charger, a Challenger and a Viper, all decked out in Imperial colors. Fiat also brought a 500 dressed up like the cutest little stormtrooper imaginable to the LA Auto Show last year.
