John Cena is an international star in the ring and on the big screen, and now he will lead the field to the green flag at the Daytona 500 next week. Daytona International Speedway announced Friday Cena will drive a Toyota Camry as the honorary pace car for NASCAR's season opener. He's a 15-time WWE heavyweight champion and one of the sport's most visible stars. He also recently starred in the smash comedies Trainwreck and Sisters.

"John Cena is one of the most iconic WWE Superstars in history, a great actor, and philanthropist," Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III said in a statement. "We welcome him back to the 'World Center of Racing' and our new motorsports stadium, this time to pace the field for 'The Great American Race.'"

Cena will host a reality TV show with military and survival themes this spring on Fox, which is also the network that carries the Daytona 500. He's also active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The 500 will showcase the renovated speedway, which received $400 million in renovations in work that started in July 2013 and was first displayed at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The 57-year-old landmark now seats about 101,500 and has more rest rooms and concession stands.
