Wheego working on two new models, coming to China first
According to a statement that Susan Nicholson, Wheego's vice president for electronics, sent to Green Car Reports: "We are not making the Whip or LiFe any more, but still support and service the cars. We are working on two new models which will first be introduced in China, followed a few years later by introduction to the US market."
When it was sold in the US, the Whip LiFe cost $32,995. Company CEO Mike McQuary said during an aggressive speech at the 2010 LA Auto Show that, "Up until two years ago, I thought Elon Musk was the cologne I wore in college. Apparently Elon Musk is a genius. I have never met him, so I'll just have to take his word for it. Also unlike Tesla, we make affordable electric cars." Somehow, that sort of attitude – and the unknown brand Wheeego name - didn't work well to convince people to buy enough LiFes. You can read our drive review of this little EV here.
