If you close your eyes, the sound is sort of like a small jet taking off. Come to think of it, that isn't really that far off the mark. Because even something as quiet as an electric motor can give of a pretty good "whirr" when it packs 1,088 horsepower.

Motor Authority was kind enough to post a 24-second video showing the Rimac Concept_One electric vehicle being put through its paces on an unidentified racetrack. Whether going through S curves or barreling down a straightaway, the electric vehicle, which can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than three seconds, sounded impressive. The aural experience is somewhat similar to what one hears when something mechanical is about to take flight. And with a reported top speed of 190 miles per hour, maybe the Concept_One was pushing against that limit.

Croatia-based Rimac, which uses a 92 kilowatt-hour battery pack for the car, first showed off its Concept_One at the 2011 Frankfort Motor Show. And last April, tech.eu reported that Rimac was able to line up some funding sources through a combination of advanced customer orders and a loan the company got from the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is all good news if you like what you hear in Motor Authority's video.
