California Woman Finds Neighbor's Body In Trunk
Police unsure how long body had been in trunk or how it got there
In a bizarre case in Riverside, California, the body of a man was found in the trunk of a car outside of a Walmart, and no one knows how it got there.
The driver of a gold Lexus GS 300 told police she noticed a funny smell following her all day, but didn't know the source until she opened the trunk to stow away shopping bags. Inside she found the body of her neighbor Miguel Perez, according to ABC 7.
"It's very unusual," Sgt. Dave Amador of Riverside Police Department told CBS Los Angeles. "It's one of a kind. I mean, we do get bodies in trunks. But to open it up and say they know him and didn't know they were in there, that's unusual."
Witnesses say the driver became upset upon finding Perez's body, though police would not confirm what connection, if any, exists between the dead man and the owner of the car he was found in. Detectives in Pamona, California, believe the victim died in their community and have taken over the investigation.
