Hoping to convince more people to make the switch to electric cars, China is considering investing $16 billion to install charging facilities. Anonymous sources have said that an announcement about the program will be made soon. China has already announced and implemented various measures, such as incentives and tax breaks, to encourage more people to drive emissions free and improve urban air quality. China aims to have 30 percent of its government vehicle purchases be EVs by 2016, with higher targets after that. There's more from Bloomberg.

BMW Debuts BMW Innovations Campaign Showcasing Key Technology Features.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – August 27, 2014... BMW of North America will introduce a new campaign, BMW Innovations, which will highlight how the range of BMW vehicles share several key technology features with the visionary BMW i8, a plug-in hybrid high-performance vehicle. The BMW i8, with the "i" standing for innovation, exhibits futuristic design and groundbreaking technology built upon BMW's storied history.

"Innovation is at the core of everything we do. Following in the lead of the BMW i8, which epitomizes innovation, we are elevating the technology across our entire range of BMW models, as highlighted in this national campaign," said Trudy Hardy, Vice President, Marketing, BMW of North America.

Beginning September 1, 2014, BMW will debut three new national television spots to further detail how the groundbreaking technological innovations within the BMW i8 transfer to the greater BMW family. All three spots feature the BMW i8, now on sale:

- "Looking Forward" uses cinematography to illustrate that the BMW i8's Full-Color Head-Up Display is also available in the BMW 3 Series. Full-Color Head-Up Display projects important driving information, including speed limit, and assistance systems displays, including current speed, navigation and collision warnings, into the driver's field of view;
- "Change" focuses on the impressive LED headlight technology as the BMW i8 dramatically transforms into the BMW 5 Series. It draws attention to Adaptive LED Headlights to provide brighter lighting and can turn in the direction the vehicle is traveling to provide optimal road illumination in every condition; and
- "Eyes Everywhere" takes viewers on a cross-dimensional journey through the BMW i8's iDrive screen to reveal Surround Camera System in the BMW X3. Surround View Camera System provides a 360° panorama view around the vehicle, which assists drivers while parking, maneuvering in tight situations or when navigating in areas with limited visibility.

In dealerships nationwide, customers will be encouraged to engage in a 'tech drive,' which allows them to experience the cutting-edge innovations in BMW vehicles first-hand. This integrated campaign also includes digital media and social media programs, designed to increase awareness of the technologies present in the BMW i8 and throughout the BMW family of vehicles.

On September 13th and 14th, EVSR and Tim O'Neil, the electric kings of the hill will be back at Mt. Washington for the first time since setting the Climb to the Clouds electric vehicle record earlier this year! We will help kick off the New England celebration of National Drive Electric Week, the Alternate Energy Summit, sponsored by New Hampshire Electric Co-op. The EVSR will show at Mt. Washington and have a demonstration with both cars on Saturday and Sunday.

Both of the EVSR's will be available for viewing, and will be running up the Mt. Washington Auto Road along with a wide variety of Alternate Energy Vehicles on Saturday and Sunday. Charlie Greenhaus, EVSR program director, and the EVSR Team will be leading a workshop dedicated to electric vehicles in competition. This workshop, Redefining Motorsports - A How-To Guide for Creating a Revolution in Speed, will take place on Saturday from 1PM- 2PM, and will be interactive with the audience invited to participate with questions and answers throughout. We will be discussing topics such as safety, construction, design, execution, and working with existing organizations to include electric vehicles in existing events.

The Mt. Washington Auto Road continues its long tradition of supporting automotive innovation and environmental responsibility with the 39th year of the Alt Energy Summit, on September 13 and 14, 2014. Free to the general public, the event is expected to be one of the largest single gatherings of alternative energy vehicles in the country and beyond.

The end goal of EVSR is to build an entire fleet of electric sports racing cars, and host a series. Once a series of EVSRs are built, they will be fully rentable. Custom cars will also be available to purchase.
