Police in Forney, Texas received a call about a beige or tan Toyota full of men pointing guns at other drivers on the freeway two weeks ago, but the car they pulled over was neither beige nor a Toyota.

Instead of finding men touting guns, responding police officers found a mom and four children under the age of ten inside a red Nissan Maxima. That didn't stop police from pointing weapons at the vehicle and treating a law-abiding mother like a criminal, WFAA8 reported. The dramatic traffic stop was caught on the officer's dashboard camera.

Police immediately instructed Kametra Barbour to exit the vehicle with her hands up. A few moments later, Barbour's 6-year-old son Ryan exited the car, also with his hands up. It's about this time, over the screams and cries of terrified children, that the cops realize they had the wrong vehicle.

The reason Barbour was pulled over and treated like a threat? She happened to use the same freeway exit that a 911 caller told dispatch the beige Toyota had used. Police told WFAA8 their reaction was appropriate due to the potential risks of such a stop, but Barbour is too traumatized to take 'sorry' for an answer.

"I need you to make sure you have all the facts, because you can't just say, 'Okay, I'm sorry,' and then I'm over it. I can't. Every time I listen to and hear or think about it, it bothers you. I can't just say, 'I'm fine. It's okay. It's not a big deal.' It is," Barbour said.

Robert Police abuse their authority and position everyday. You would have to be pretty stupid to believe otherwise. We do need police but we want honest individuals that employ morality and common sense not boot jack thugs that like to break it off in people's backside. I'd sue for distress and require those officers repeat their POST training cause obviously they missed the part about "protect and serve".

They got the wrong make, wrong color, then lie to the woman to cover up their incompetency.

Ooooops, I'm sorry doesn't cut it. These cops need to have their asses handed to them on a platter. This is so beyond ridiculous.

These particular Police Officers did not abuse their power in this situation. None of the descriptions matched, but it was a potentially life threatening situation. It is better to be extremely cautious than be shot. Please consider the situation people. We all want to be safe and we need the police. Don't put them all in the same category. I encourage each person who complains about the police, go do a ride along with a police for (4) hours and see what their job entails. It may surprise you.

What part of the story did you not understand,. The guys with guns were in a beige or brown Toyota. She was driving a red Maxima. Repeat she, femaile, two X chromosomes with kids in the car and no guns in sight. NObody's life was in danger except perhaps the people in the car.

I have had the same thing happen. Not once, but twice. Once because one of my tail lights was burnt out, another because a cop who was trying to get into my locked yard to take a short cut had my dog bark at him. The only "offense" I have ever committed in my entire life - and I am well past 40 - was a speeding ticket for going 30 in a 25 zone when I was 19. There is NO excuse for police to treat people the way they do, and I have little respect for them. Rather, I am more afraid of them than anything.

And the police wonder why the public has lost faith in their abilities to protect and serve.

umm to respond to roberts response. well the call was about a tan or bige car . does that car they pulled over look any way tan or biege ? NO IT DOES NOT . so your point holds no water and from my point of view these cops are nothing but thugs and idiots cause they couldnt even get the color of the car right . and how about the police in cali that shot at a truck that somewhat matched the script of a vehicle a perp was driving ? the cops didnt even try to identify or pull the vehicle off the raod to SEE who was driving . they just started to shoot at it and it turned out to be 2 innocent women . so when cops do stupid things like not get the facts or even check themselves before they harass or pull some one over , then people get hurt , or die or got to jail . thats why the cops need to be correct and get all the facts and check themselves before they act . derrr !

Wrong car, wrong color, wrong gender...and yet these racist imbeciles will undoubtedly keep their jobs. This and the non-stop authoritarian abuse directed toward law-abiding citizens of EVERY race, education and demo is precisely why I no longer give an ounce of s**t when cops lose their lives in the line of duty. Nope, not kidding in the slightest: The corrupt tyrants employed by police departments nation wide deserve not a single shrug.

Yes it is a shame that the "corrupt tyrants" give a bad name to the too few decent good police officers. But please remember that they do exsist.

Racist ? ? ? Apparently you didn't understand what was going on. You should seek some help with your attitude about the Police. Sounds like you're the type that would need the Police some day to save your sorry butt. I just hope they know you're a racist before they respond to the call. Have a nice life.

winky dink . sounds like you have your head some where it cant read the facts of police brutality and police incompetence. the police need to be sure about things be for they act . cause thier actions have serious repercussions on the people they are supposed to protect . know your damn job and what it entails , instead of running around clueless and pointing guns at innocent people and kicking in doors to wrong houses . i could go on but i think YOU need to educate your self more about this subject . i could tell you , but you wouldn't believe me .

sounds to me like someone made a prank call to police, they gave the police her LICENSE plate number!, Maybe an ex who was mad at her had followed her from WalMart and called it in. I don't know but it wasn't the color of the vehicle listen carefully, the officer said that the caller had given HER PLATE NUMBERS. Officers HAVE to be this careful ( about bringing her and her older child out of the car.) Because he is correct, they never know what is going on in the car, or who is in the car. Or what the people in that car are going to do when they get up to the window .

Penny- The police are able and do lie all the time. It is an "accepted" part of their job. They can tell you anything at anytime to see your response. In regards to the plate number they very well could have said that after the fact to calm the woman's anger at them -it was not mentioned in the beginnning when she was asking what was happening even when she said their were children in the car --only when they realized their mistake.
