Mazda has found both critical and commercial success with its CX-5 small crossover, and seems to be endeavoring to keep the momentum up with an upcoming refresh. As you can extrapolate from the obvious lack of the usual camouflage, the company isn't reinventing anything in the very near future of the CX-5, but it does seem as thought some tweaks are in the works.

Lighting elements fore and aft appear to have gone under the knife, with the front grille and rear fascia also seemingly to be slightly revised. The side mirrors now look slicker and slightly more upscale with their integrated turn signals, as well.

In all, expect a look that's a touch fresher, without being a radical departure from the existing visage.

      I'm good with the CX-5, and will probably buy one in two years. Mainly because it's the only FWD, stick shift CUV with a tow rating of 2000 lb.

      (Well there's the Tiguan, but a stick shift Tiguan is a unicorn, and also it's a VW.)

      So Mazda, if you're reading this, please keep making stick shift CX-5s for the next two years. Also, please explain to me why the stick shift CX-5 Sport is only available in 3 shades of gray, while the CX-5 Sport automatic is available in actual colors.

        They seem to think that if you're opting for the manual, you just want something cheap (which is the case for most buyers who do so).

          Is blue paint more expensive than gray paint?

      I like it. Looks a bit more upscale.

      I wish they'd refresh it (here in the USA) with the Sky-D engine. I'd beat a path to my dealer for an AWD Sky-D CX5. Mazda is really missing an opportunity here. I can't believe how long it's taking them (years!!!) to get Sky-D's here in America.

      Guessing the outside is getting LED lighting, and inside will get the new Mazda infotainment system.

      Mid-cycle refresh time is coming up.  Hope the higher trim levels get rear HVAC vents.

      Oh for the bigger engine with stick shift and that lovely electric blue exterior, plus of course a non-black carpet/interior. Why do all crossovers have to come with a black carpet these days?

        @Boogaloo

        They do offer a Sand interior on the darker blue.

      As a 2014 CX-5 owner, here are my top 3 gripes:

      1. NAV screen needs to be much, much bigger

      2. Passenger seat needs lumbar and power controls

      3. Hatch compartment needs better lighting.

      Seat & mirror position memory would be nice, too.

      The 2015s have been around for several months, and the outside mirrors are a recent running change. I'm don't think I notice a new grill and lights yet, but I think they're getting rid of the bright strip continuing inside the lights from the grill, a la Mazda6 and Mazda3.

        @BC

        This will be a 2016 MY update and the bright strip continues, it is a signature piece of Mazda's  kudo design

      They need to do something about those thick blacked-out window frames in the B and C pillars.  That big expanse of black tape makes the car look cheap. Either cover it up with carbon fiber or put some chrome/aluminum trims on it.

        There is an attractive carbon fibre pillar trim kit available as an accessory.

      Still not going to look good until they make those ugly plastic wheel well arches painted to mach the body color...

      Just hoping for either the diesel to hit the states or a nice turbo engine (rumored for future CX-9 or even from the upcoming miata)
