When we think of desirable Ferraris from the 1970s, the choices are somewhat thin. Obviously, there was the 365 GTB/4, better known as the legendary Daytona, but that was initially a product of the 1960s. Really, aside from the arrival of the stylish 308, the 1970s weren't a strong decade for Ferrari.

As Ferrari the brand grows, though, even some of its less desirable cars are becoming popular among enthusiasts. Considering that, we should begin hearing more mid-70s Ferrari love, such as that being espoused by Anthony Rimicci, for his Dino 308 GT4.

As the first mass-produced, mid-engined V8 Ferrari, the Dino-badged 308 GT4 can best be thought of as the earliest ancestor to the 458 Italia (other mid-engined Ferraris, like the 250LM and 288 GTO are more akin to the Enzo and LaFerrari). It was also the final car in the Dino line, while many of the vehicles were rebadged as Ferraris, following lackluster sales.

      I always loved this car because of it's wedge shape and those C-Pillar air intakes. To learn through this video that it was going to be the Urraco makes perfect sense as Lamborghini were headed towards "wedgier" cars post Miura (which still may be the most beautiful car ever built).

      The 70's produced not only the 308GTB/GTS (the true ancestors to the 458), they delivered the 365BB and 512BB, which were some of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever. 

      I'm sorry, does this writer know anything about Ferrari's? The '70's were thin? Maybe if you look at the way today's conglomerate-owned exotic companies pump out models today. But, back then, a new car every ten years and having two models for sale at a time was all there was.  

      Having excused that, labeling the GT4 was the "earliest" ancestor to the 458 is something utterly uninformed.

          I don't know... The Mondial is now an antique.  In Spider form I think one would be a fun driver-plus it's from the era before Ferrari went crazy with electronics.

      Always loved the GT4. Found one with Boxer paint (red/black) years back. Was dying to get it but it was just out of range. Someday...
