2015 Chevrolet SS Dealer Order GuideThe Chevrolet SS is very much a muscle car for grownups. If you have a career, significant other and maybe some kids to tote around, you can still drive one, secure in the knowledge that there is a 415-horsepower, 6.2-liter V8 lurking under the hood for when it's time to have some fun. For 2015, Chevrolet is confirming earlier rumors with the addition of a standard, magnetic suspension and optional six-speed manual, according to the automaker's recently released dealer order guide (pictured right).

Already found on some models of the Camaro and Corvette, not to mention several Cadillac models, Magnetic Selective Ride Control system has been praised for its ability to switch from a firm, sporty ride to a cushier demeanor on the fly. It should make the performance sedan into an even better dual-purpose machine for the family and a little bit of hooning around.

The standard transmission is still a six-speed automatic, but there is now an option for a six-speed manual for those who prefer a three-pedal setup. The new gearbox also adds a 3.70 rear-axle ratio to replace the 3.27 gearing from the automatic, but it predictably deletes availability of the remote engine start system. Afaf Farah, a Chevy spokesperson, tells Autoblog that the manual "will have an additional price," but the company won't reveal it until later.

Chevy is also doubling the range of colors available on the SS. The five current shades remain for 2015, but the company is also adding some new hues like: Regal Peacock Green, Some Like It Hot Red, Jungle Green Metallic, Perfect Blue and Alchemy Purple. Finally, all models of the SS get an upgraded OnStar system with 4G LTE that allows the car to act as a wifi hotspot.

In our review of the 2014 model, Michael Harley said, "the SS comes across as a polished, and very well-rounded, sport sedan package that is more focused on performance than the others." The 2015 upgrades put just a little more emphasis on the sedan's sportiness. Check out the gallery of the order guide to see all of the changes.

So big, polished Brembo calipers in the front, but general purpose bargain-bin calipers in the rear? WTF? And that rear end... might as well cover the entire azz in cheap, black plastic. I really want to like this car, but its Chevy influence is just killing the appeal.

Front brakes do the lions share of the work on any car anyway. The engineers determined that single piston sliders were good enough for the rear.

Rochester: I'm not fond of it either, but hey, you can swap the rears off a 5th gen Camaro, as Chris said (not sure if the CTS-V brakes will bolt on).

Mechanically true, but stylistically cheap. I can't think of another car where there are beautiful, polished calipers in the front, but junky calipers in the rear. It's such a bad decision to make on a low-yield car that claims a high-end sticker price.

On the outside Commodore and this SS look almost the same but for the grille. Differences are so minor but visually cars are a world apart, SS is simply an ugly car while Commodore is a great looking, stylish car.

There is next to no difference between the commodore and the SS. The commodore isn't stylish. It looks like someone took the front from the Epica and overinflated it. The VE Commodore was a good looking car. The VF isn't.

Dude i have stated it many times over that i despise GM and everything it stands for. But i never fail to point out the great looking design language GM has in some cars. I find ATS to be one of the best looking cars out there now, i am sure it is a complete trash (it is underpowered) but it does look great. I don't understand why you can't separate the hate for the company vs. real criticism of looks. Again i love Toyota, i love Prius, i wrote it here many times that Prius has a cheap interior.

@ yakapo999 You know the weather is lovely and it is a great morning but you are trying to ruin my mood by getting me angry. You really think i wan't talking about a base ATS engine that is rated at 202 HP, dude my base 2012 Sonata has like 190 HP and probably weights less than ATS because it has less content. You KNEW i was talking about that engine because i am not the only one to point out this. Many car magazines said EXACTLY the same thing, a luxury performance car with an engine from a family sedan. I think i read a review pointing this very same issue out in 4-5 car magazines. You knew what i meant because i assume you follow car news, why do that. Also i love the Prius for what it is, of course it is less powerful than ATS but it is a different kind of a car.

The base model 3 series BMW has 180hp. Base model Audi A4 220hp. Lexus IS250 204hp. Mercedes C250 201hp. You say that it's underpowered for a luxury performance car, yet it appears to have power pretty much in line with the base model offerings from everything else in it's class. Thanks for playing, though.

Larry, you think the ats is underpowered but you "love" the prius? The ats 2.0 makes 272 hp and 260 ft lbs of torque. I currently drive an Acura tsx and I'd gladly trade for an "underpowered" ATS.

Offering a high performance sedan with a stick shift is an excellent move by Chevrolet. Will attract a number of baby boomers like myself who grew up with three pedals. For those with a heavy foot, its conservative styling will make it less of a "pig magnet". especially when ordered in a plain grey, white, or black color
