If you dig the style of the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class but can't quite stretch from the $29,900 MSRP of the CLA250 to the $47,450 CLA45 AMG, we've got a bit of good news for you: Mercedes is offering a new Sport Package Plus for the CLA250 that at least punches up the visual attitude.

Similar to the Euro-spec CLA250 Sport introduced in Frankfurt (if not identical save for the mirror caps), the US-spec CLA 250 Sport Package Plus includes a special set of 18-inch alloys, upgraded exhaust and retuned suspension. It also gets red accents on the bumpers and an interior with more robustly bolstered buckets and red stitching. All of this comes on top of the aero kit, chrome grille and upgraded brakes on the existing Sport Package.

Those are the only mechanical changes, so don't go looking for any more juice out of the 2.0-liter turbo four than the 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque that come standard, channeled as they are either to the front wheels or all four through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Pricing for the Sport Package Plus hasn't been announced, but the existing Sport Package was already going for $2,200, so expect to shell out even more than that for the new kit.

The design element to make this a 4-Door coupe results in a very unfaltering look from the B-Pillar towards the rear bumper...would have looked much better as a proper 4-Door Sedan...

I have my Snow White CLA 250 for two weeks now, love it very much.  Got a lot of compliments on it.  It took us for about 9 weeks to finally got it. Nice looking car.

Already one of the most stunning cars on the road in sport trim. This car looks incredible in person.

In person I think it looks fairly attractive from the front, especially if it's painted up in black. Having said that there is no excuse for how tragic the rear end looks, it's Honda CR-Z ugly back there. Add in the cheap plastics littering the interior and it's no wonder the new A3 sedan is outselling this one on a near 2 to 1 ratio.

I'd say it's one of the few attractive Mercedes on the road. Heck, at least (unlike Audi) it doesn't look like yet another glorified Jetta.

What an utter embarrassment of a car design. A few red stripes won't help it.

An Accord will walk this car... why even bother with cosmetics

Because we all know that racing an Accord is the bar by which all cars should be judged...

That's the most relevant review of this car I've read in the year+ that it's been on the market. If you're not impressed enough, ok. But they do offer the AMG version and it's bat-**** crazy performance if you need to move the needle. I think the CLA 250 Sport is a fantastic car, though. Just too small for me personally but a very attractive car. I don't think too many Accord buyers are cross-shopping the CLA any more than they do any other small, sporty, premium-brand cars.

Oh oh, a special package to stimulate sales already? Usually you wait a little longer to do those things when a model is looking a little stale on the market. Could the Daimler boys be worried about the Audi A3 sales? I suppose by next spring they will release the Maybach Edition CLA. ;-)

Styling is beginnin g to look like across between a Mustang and a Hyundai. Some leftover Chrysler influence perhaps?

The CLA actually reminds me of the '96 Taurus / Sable, especially in profile.
