It isn't usually news when a parking structure is torn down. Then again, few parking structures have the significance of 1401 Wilson Boulevard in Rosslyn, VA. That's because the twin, 12-story structures are where Washington Post reporter and legend of journalism Bob Woodward met his contact in the lead up to the Watergate Scandal.

That contact was FBI Special Agent Mark Felt, codenamed Deep Throat. He was a critical source to Woodward and fellow journalist Carl Bernstein when it came to information on the scandal, although his true identity remained a secret for over three decades following the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

The garage was made a historical building in 2011, but that wasn't enough to save it from the wrecking ball. The Arlington County Board voted to allow the structures to be demolished to make way for a pair of new towers.

Sounds so tame by today's standard. Awh the good old days when people care enough to go after unethical/illegal behavior.

Yawn. Next to the IRS memorial targeting liberals groups, but lost the My Pet Goat memorial, 12 W Benghazi incident memorials, the Curve Ball one, the Dick Cheney Judy Miller one, the Scooter Libby one,.... oh wait, the media won't talk about that. Let's bring out the idiots who created the Iraq mess a decade ago to criticize others now....

Its a fact that Nixon actually use the IRS to attack his critics and the mastermind of the Bengazi attack received a get out of Gitmo pass from Bush in 2007. But this has been covered by Fox News....LOL!!!!!!

Your first Backfires profile said February 1st, 1980. If that isn't correct, then when WERE you born? You act like somebody much younger than me (and most of the rest of the people who post here).

I really hope you aren't implying that the Republican party is a beacon of truth and justice, because they most certainly aren't. But hey, you're an inbred redneck who thinks the South will rise again, so whatever. You'll end up biting the bullet in some hilarious beer fueled stunt gone wrong.

That's a shame. It should designated a historical landmark for what went on there. Also, if you've never read up on Watergate and the other illegal activities the Nixon administration was involved in (or only know it from US history class), give the Wikipedia article a read. Fascinating stuff.
