Vmax200 in in England organizes events where those who care to show up with a supercar can run them down the two-mile runway at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. Evo attended the latest event, bringing an impressively green Lamborghini Aventador to test its girth and gaping vents against other precious metals like the McLaren P1 and F1, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT and enough 911 Turbos to start a dealership. Speaking of those Porsches, nine of the top ten slots in the top speed competition are claimed by modified 911 Turbos.

A monochrome Swede ruled them all, though, a black-and-white Koenigsegg CCX setting fire to the speed trap run after run, hitting 211 miles per hour at its quickest. It was followed by, surprise, a 911 GT2 modified by 9E that did 210 mph. You can watch the EVO video below, GT Spirit has a bigger breakdown of the day, and we've included another vid showing the tandem launch of the CCX and McLaren F1.

My local speedway requires anyone running a 1/4 mile under 10 seconds to wear a helmet. It seems crazy to skip that simple level of protection when running to 200 MPH.

Ahh, got to love autoblog where all the fanboys vote anything they don't like down. While i'm not a henesee fan, yes in all likelihood the venom would kill these cars. Hell, so would the henesee vipers and all the other american tuned vehicles. You could say that our cars are modded, but so were all these porsches, so... Was this event cool? Of course. But run in america the results would be quite different. The top speed in this event wouldn't even get you on the leader board at the texas mile, that has a record of 278mph.

Not sure it was fair. The surface the McLaren had to drive on was awful. The driver of the F1 had to baby it from the get go because there would be no way he'd get the power down off the line.

The Koenigsegg also has launch control. That helps a bit.

Great technology and all, but the Koenigsegg is still the most boring looking supercar ever.

The article mentions both. The second video shows the F1. The first video shows the P1, twice. The P1 achieved the third highest speed of the day at 209mph.

Would be interesting to see some of the standing mile U.S. cars make it over there to see how they do. BADD GT, some of the UR Gallardos, and maybe some Heffner Vipers.

The Mclaren in the 2nd video had a slow start. I wonder what it did in the long run. 209 for the P1 is impressive considering that the car is not build for speed but cornering. I am almost sure the P1 is the fastest at the quarter mile and even half a mile.
