This is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and we're sure that by now, you know its stats, including over 600 horsepower from its 6.2-liter, supercharged V8. What, pray tell, does that blown engine sound like, though?

At least judging on the sonic strength of this video, it's very, very dirty. Honestly, it sounds unlike anything that's come out of the Chrysler Group in a long time, if ever. It's loud, almost brutally so, with a bark that few road-going V8s can match.

Of course, you should be the final judge here. Take a look and a listen at the two videos below, one of which comes from our friends at Cars.com that provides a nice look under the hood, and then let us know what you think of the Hellcat's singing voice in Comments.

Those that complain about the sound should get back in your Civics/Camrys and drive away cause you're not a true car fan

As a guy who grew up in Detroit in the late '60's, - this still has to be the best of times to be a gearhead!

Yeah, but back then, nearly everyone could afford to buy a muscle car......now, you have to be rich to get one

Having owned a 2005 & 2011 HEMI I can vouch if a HEMI is run for a very short period of time after a cold start and then shut off and restarted again a short time later it will smoke on restart. It is just Unburned fuel from the cold start rich mixture. Many modern cars do this as well.

Anyone that had worked at a Car Dealer or car lot would know that most new cars do this.. its pretty common.

Don't try to record audio with a POS phone! C'mon Cars.com, budget a bit more for your media team.

I cannot get over how STUPID the name is!!! Honestly "dodge challenger srt Hellcat"???? Wtf were they thinking? it takes a whole sentence just to let someone know what car it is. Chrysler has lost it.

Really? Adding "Hellcat" to the end of a Challenger SRT is ridiculous? You probably haven't been paying much attention to some European brands recently then, like Lamborghini or BMW. Ridiculous isn't adding a 4th word to a name, ridiculous is having a name that looks like a cat ran across the keyboard. (Lookin at you Z4 sDrive35is)

Look at the car, read the specs and listen to that exhaust. Now tell me Hellcat isn't the perfect name.

Lots of car names are long and stupid, just part of the marketing game, let's see what else: - Dodge LaDodge? - Dosmo Fairlady-C Spec-SRT Challenger? - Dodge 392 Challenger Stradale? - Dodge Challenger LP600-2 SV Superlegerra? - Dodge SRT Challenger CLK-392 Black Edition? I can go on and on with the satire, but fact is, most sportscar OEMs put in alpha-numerics and cool sound words to make their product sound substantial.

Chill dude. It's not a slight against God. It's just a name, and a good one at that.

I'm a ricer by heart, but you're a 100% jackass. This thing is THE ABOMINATION of the streets. Unfiltered, raw, violent and all 3 again x 2 to the infinite power. My kid side is out and I might make a bad life decision.

You and the other two people who feel that way should get a penthouse suite in Vegas, order some oysters, champaign, and strawberries, and make a movie.

Considering this car will probably trap close to 120mph, your Tesla would be looking at it's taillights.

I haven't come across a single Tesla Model S that liked to accelerate quickly, let alone race.
