Regardless of what you think of his skill as a racer, Ken Block is an expert showman. At this point, he has a career of showing up around the world to do vehicular stunts, and he's still able to go racing as well. It's a pretty sweet niche to carve out. Recently, Block was in Barbados to participate in Top Gear Live and the first event of the Global Rallycross Championship season, and Ford Racing produced a short video to show off his exploits.

It looked like a great show. Block got to race Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz Formula One car and had a very weird crash during a Rallycross race that put his Ford Fiesta on its roof. Top Gear also released an extended look at Block and Hamilton's spectacle with the two of them expertly sliding around. Scroll down to watch the videos and get a taste of Block's tropical racing adventure.

As Dmitriy wrote, never got the hate for Ken. He is nothing short of a self made millionaire (as owner of DC Shoes) that loves cars that finally got enough free time and money to learn to race late in life. He has some sponsors now but initially he financed his own drive and drivers schools and became quite the well known driver. Super nice guy, great sense of humor, and a hell of a talent. Sure...he is no Sainz or Loeb when it comes to WRC but give the guy his props: He has not been doing this very long and he does it 'cus he loves it. Track down an interview with Block on the Jason Ellis show and give it a listen. He has no ego and is a great ambassador of motorsports.

Ken Block and anyone energy drink sponsored, love them or hate them, at least they're out there getting racing exposure to a generation that's increasingly less interested in cars. All it takes is for a kid to see a cool car video on the internet and get that bug, wanting to grow up and get behind the wheel of a fun car. That's one less Camry owner to stem the tide of the car industry toward boring econo boxes.

He sure doesn't compare to the real rallying champs out there - but he's charismatic as heck. He has that "Aww, shucks..." attitude as if he's he realizes that he is a lucky guy that gets paid a ton just to have fun. In short, he's a guilty pleasure - like admitting you enjoy ABBA.

Glad to see Lewis showing some love for his Caribbean fans. I'm sure MB and Monster and Petronas did not ship a GP car and a crew to Barbados as a marketing priority so that was cool of them to do that. Also, at :45, Ken Block cheats.
