Chevrolet is weighing in on the eternal battle of east coast versus west coast with two new special-edition 2015 Corvette Stingray models. If you're in the market for a few stylistic upgrades to your 'Vette, these models bring it, but they are otherwise mechanically identical to the standard car.

2015 Chevrolet Atlantic Design PackageFirst previewed at the 2013 SEMA Show in conceptual form, the luxury-focused Corvette Atlantic convertible (inset, right) is ready for a drive by the shore with a blend of added luxury and aggressive style. The package adds a front splitter inspired by the Z06 and chrome wheels. It also repaints the vents, hood stinger and tonneau cover trim in Shark Grey, and the model comes with a set of custom luggage. The Atlantic is available in any of the sports car's available colors.

The Pacific coupe (above) goes for a much more aggressive look, and Chevy says its inspiration comes from track day drivers. It features unpainted carbon fiber on the side strakes, roof panel, rear spoiler, mirrors, badges and interior trim. To lend a little more menace, it also has a satin black racing stripe down the hood, red brake calipers and satin black wheels with a red stripe on them. The interior gets matching black or red sport seats. The package is available in Torch Red, Black, Arctic White, Blade Silver and Shark Gray, and it comes with a car cover.

Both models are only offered on Corvettes ordered with the Z51 performance package, but they are available with either the new eight-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions. They go on sale later this year with the rest of the 2015 Corvettes. Chevy hasn't announced pricing for them yet, so stay tuned. In the meantime, scroll down to learn more about these sports cars and their coastal inspirations.

2015 Corvette Offers Atlantic, Pacific Design Packages

2014-04-25
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Chevrolet announced today the 2015 Corvette Stingray will be available in two new Design Packages: the Atlantic luxury convertible and the Pacific performance coupe. They go on sale later this year with the rest of the 2015 Corvette Stingray lineup.

"One of the design goals for the Corvette Stingray was to provide customers with the flexibility to tailor the car to their personality," said Kirk Bennion, Corvette exterior design manager. "The Atlantic and Pacific Design Packages were originally designed to showcase how the Stingray could be configured as a luxury sport GT car or as a high-performance motorsport car."

The Corvette Stingray Atlantic convertible and Corvette Stingray Pacific coupe concepts were introduced last fall at the SEMA Show. A strong response from enthusiasts helped influence production. They are the latest Chevrolet concepts from SEMA that made concept to reality. Several Camaros, such as the Hot Wheels edition, and the Sonic Dusk are now in production.

"We plan to make news with the Corvette Stingray every year, in part by offering special-edition models that offer a unique, personal ownership experience," said Todd Christensen, Corvette marketing manager. "Our customers have told us they appreciate these limited-edition models, which have become an important part of the Corvette's legacy."

Luxury GT-focused Atlantic Convertible

The 2015 Corvette Stingray Atlantic Design Package is inspired by the luxury and performance of private jets seen at European vacation destinations. Offered exclusively on Z51-equipped convertibles, it is available in 2LT or 3LT trims, with the following unique features and content:

Front Z06-style splitter
Shark Gray exterior vents, hood "stinger" graphic and tonneau inserts
Chrome Torque wheels with Stingray center caps
Stingray underhood liner and floor mats
Custom splash guards, rear license plate frame and logo valve stem caps
Custom luggage.
The Atlantic Design Package is available in all colors offered on the Corvette Stingray.

Track-focused Pacific Coupe

The 2015 Corvette Stingray Pacific Design Package is inspired by West Coast drivers who attend weekend track events. It is offered exclusively as a Z51-equipped coupe, in 2LT and 3LT trims, with the following unique content:

Color choices of Torch Red, Black, Arctic White, Blade Silver and Shark Gray – a new color for 2015
Satin black full-length racing stripes
Satin black Z51 wheels with red stripe and Stingray center caps
"CFZ" carbon fiber ground effects package and visible carbon fiber roof panel
Carbon Flash rear spoiler, outside mirrors and exterior badges
Red brake calipers
Competition Sport Seats in red or black
Carbon fiber interior trim, Stingray sill plates and Stingray floor mats
Custom splash guards and rear license plate frame
Indoor car cover (gray).

As with other 2015 models, Corvette's new Performance Data Recorder is available on the Atlantic and Pacific, as well as an all-new eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission. A seven-speed manual transmission is standard.

The Performance Data Recorder combines the ability to record and share drive videos with the power of a professional-level telemetry system. With included software, users can analyze their laps to improve their driving and lap times. The system includes a high-definition camera integrated into the interior's rearview mirror assembly.

The new paddle-shift eight-speed is designed to deliver world-class shift times that rival the best dual-clutch designs, and is expected to contribute up to 5-percent greater efficiency, when compared to the previous six-speed automatic. EPA estimates are pending.

Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Chevrolet is now one of the world's largest car brands, doing business in more than 140 countries and selling more than 4.9 million cars and trucks a year. Chevrolet provides customers with fuel-efficient vehicles that feature spirited performance, expressive design, and high quality. It consider it to be more along the lines of the GranSport. I don't think this will have nearly the road-presence in person that the Z06 does due to the fact that it isn't a widebody (at least I don't believe it is)

As a Vette owner and seeing the car in person a few times it does nothing for me and a few of my friends who are owners feel the same way it's just a mismatch of body parts the technology is there but the styling leaves a lot to be desired . No thanks !

The Older Corvettes are a joke sure they look nice but suck up gas and don't handle very well this car Destroyed the new Viper on the track. The Viper had a little more power in the straight but as soon as it hit the corners the Vette was gone. Plus the suspension on the Viper broke near the end of the test. Now there building a new suspension for the Viper Why you haven't hears a word about the car. They thought they were going to put the Vette to shame it was the other way.

Vettes don't suck up gas bud....they're known for good mileage...I have a heavily worked 96 LT-4 that puts out a bit over 1000hp to the wheels and I can still get 22mpg highway....when stock I could and did 27mpg...the new ones are even better....some can beat 30mpg without a proble....do your resaerch my friend...

Well it is, they said design package... Most C5 and C6's I seen added after market chin spoilers and side skirts and some of the parts aren't good quality. With GM's optional design package your vette is ready to go with out ordering after market parts and you get GM 3 year warranty vs. 90 days to a year for after market. If the package is not desireable to you then you don't order it.

I would be swarn that the garish and agressive red one would have been for the pushy east coasters while the subdued convertible would have been for the chill west coasters. Shows what I know.

I thought the same thing, actually, though without the overly biased details about why you thought which was which.
