Less than a month since the Esperante Spyder and Spyder GT 25th Anniversary Editions were first shown in very rough prototype form, Panoz has finished the first car – a standard Spyder – with an aluminum body painted in eye-catching red paint with carbon fiber accents and a tan leather interior. For the moment, it sits in the entranceway of the company's new headquarters in Georgia.

While the look of the car is only a slight evolution over previous Esperantes, underneath the skin there are some notable upgrades. The chassis is now made from a mix of aluminum, carbon fiber and steel. It also now has a revised front and rear suspension, improved anti-lock brakes and a programmable gauge cluster. Buyers can choose between either an aluminum body on the Esperante Spyder or a full carbon fiber exterior for the GT.

Depending on the model, the powertrain options include a 430-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8, or a supercharged, 5.4-liter V8, available in tunes of 575 and 800(!) horsepower. Regardless of engine choice, all models are available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

Pricing for the standard 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder starts at $181,320, and the GT has a listed starting price of $229,000. If you're in the market for an Esperante, act fast. The company intends to only build a limited run of 25 copies for the anniversary. Scroll down for all of the details on the new Spyder.

FIRST 25th ANNIVERSARY PANOZ ESPERANTE SPYDER DEBUTS AT STANDING-ROOM ONLY CELEBRATION

Panoz LLC also officially dedicates its new 10,000-sq.-ft. exhibition featuring interactive displays showcasing the storied Panoz sports car and racing history

Hoschton, Ga., April 04, 2014–Hundreds of Panoz fans, followers and owners were on hand as Panoz LLC executives unveiled the very first 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder. The first example of the exclusive two-seat sports car featured a radiant red exterior, carbon fiber accents, a supple yet sporting tan leather interior with the latest technologies, a powerful V8 engine, and it was signed by the Panoz craftsmen who hand built this all-new Panoz creation.

Panoz LLC president and COO Bill Orr kicked off the presentation and introduced both Don Panoz and his son Dan, who both share entertaining anecdotes from the Panoz sports car and endurance racing history with the large crowd that included dignitaries such as Georgia Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, Georgia State Sen. Butch Miller, as well as several local city and county officials.

According to John Leverett, vice president of sales and marketing, the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder is a special exclusive model that celebrates the company's racing heritage as well as Panoz sports cars of the past 25 years. It is the direct result of close technological collaboration among the various Panoz affiliates, including Élan Motorsports Technologies, Élan Composites, Panoz Engineering Services, and Panoz LLC.

From the beginning, the designers and engineers envisioned a limited-edition Esperante that delivers pure sports car performance and reflects the Panoz Le Mans endurance racing and performance ethos. At the same time, the sports car offers many of the highly desirable features customers expect in a 21st Century performance machine such as a state-of-the-art programmable gauge cluster.

Panoz LLC expects to produce about 25 examples of the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder and Spyder GT to commemorate the anniversary milestone. Production will be intentionally limited to a handful of custom builds for select customers, keeping with the Panoz LLC's goal of creating America's most exclusive custom sports car.

25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder Details
The 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder is a lighter, more powerful version of the original hand-built Panoz convertible. It features lightweight carbon fiber and aluminum structures, a unique modular extruded aluminum chassis that is more rigid and durable than many performance coupes, completely revised and fully independent front and rear suspension, and an upgraded and robust sports car anti-lock brake system (ABS) to ensure braking performance is on par with the car's outstanding driving capabilities.

Esperante Spyder customers can choose between two sports car bodies: the "super formed" lightweight aluminum body made in Riverside, Calif. through a process developed for aerospace applications on the standard Spyder, or the carbon fiber body panels produced in the Élan Composites race shop for the Spyder GT. Panoz was the first U.S. auto manufacturer to use super formed aluminum panels for its bodies, a process now used by some of the world's most elite vehicle manufacturers.

Customers can also choose among several high-performance powertrain packages ranging from 430 to 800 horsepower. Other features include electronic traction control, high-tech gauges to monitor the car's vital systems, lightweight and fully adjustable carbon fiber sport seats, high-quality leather and wood-trim throughout the comfortable cockpit, and modern options such as media player connectivity and a race-inspired carbon fiber steering wheel.

Finally, the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder rides on 8.5 x 19-inch front and 9.5 x 19-inch rear BBS wheels with 245/40 ZR19 and 285/35 ZR 19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport ultra-high-performance front and rear sport tires.

With a price of $181,320 the 25th Anniversary Edition Esperante Spyder continues to herald the Panoz LLC goal of offering its customers true exclusivity, uncompromising performance and outstanding value.

Wait, this is a NEW model?! I glanced at the photo and assumed it was one of those "eBay find of the day" posts. Looks like it's from the 90's...

Dear Panoz, When you celebrate your 25th Anniversary you're not supposed to sell a 25 year old car.

It's been a while Panoz, and people forget quite easily cars and brands that are not regularly around. Or, they simply won't pay that much for it. You basically ignored you're Le Mans win in 2008 I think, I expect people to do quite the same with this except for some hardcore fans/shareholders. Damn it even the Abbruzzi was quite terrible, what happened to the GT1?!

The real question is, does anyone care? I mean, the basic design hasn't changed much since it debuted, only the engines have, and honestly, for teh price, there are better cars out there.
