Now that the Venom GT has earned a Guinness World Record as the quickest car to reach 300 kilometers per hour (186 miles per hour) to go along with its recorded top speed of 270.49 miles per hour (recorded last month at Florida's Kennedy Space Center), Hennessey thinks its time for a celebration. To commemorate the honors, it's building a new "World's Fastest Edition" of the Venom GT, limited to just three units priced at an eye-watering $1.25 million each. Want one? Sorry, it's too late. All of them have already been sold to previous Hennessey customers. The first one will be delivered this summer.

Modifications are simple and understated, with the addition of a red, white and blue stripe going down the center of the all-white body – Hennessey sees this as America's supercar and wants to show it. There are no mechanical changes – not that it needed any. It still packs the same 7.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 making 1,244 horsepower that propelled it early last year to 300 kmh in 13.63 seconds.

Autoblog spoke to company founder John Hennessey about the car and the recent top-speed attempt, and he had a lot to say. "We had intended to run in both directions," he said. However, a bad crosswind the first day prevented it. On the second day, NASA was testing its new Morpheus Mars lander at one end of the runway. The car was allowed to make its run going away, but the spacemen nixed the attempt approaching it."

In any case, he knew the car wasn't going to garner a second Guinness record. The organization has stipulated a minimum of a 30-car production run to qualify. Hennessey announced it would build 29 Venom GTs when it debuted the car, and that's not changing. It has sold nearly 20 of them so far and expects for them to sell out sometime next year.

What's next for one of the world's fastest cars? Hennessey says the company would like to attempt some track records next year, with the Nürburgring certainly standing as a top choice. If that's not possible, the Circuit of the Americas or Laguna Seca are other possibilities. "There's always something next," said Hennessey. For now, the business is going to celebrate building one of the world's fastest cars. Sealy, Texas-Hennessey Performance (HPE) is building a limited run of
World's Fastest Edition Venom GTs to celebrate the company's recent top speed run of 270.4 mph, which was set at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in February. The World's Fastest Edition (WFE) also alludes to the Venom's 0-300 km/h Guinness World Record.

"The Venom GT is America's supercar and it broke 270 mph on the same runway where the Space Shuttle landed at the Kennedy Space Center," said company founder John Hennessey. "We wanted to offer a special paint scheme that would incorporate the colors of the American flag-the same flag we flew on the Space Shuttle runway. Thus, our special livery package includes a body in white with red and blue stripes."

The Venom GT generates its incredible speed from a simple formula: huge power, minimal weight. Its 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 makes 1244 bhp and with only 2743 lb. to accelerate (that's 1244 kg, hitting that magic 1 bhp/kg mark), the Venom GT is not only the fastest series-produced road car; it's also the quickest. It holds the Guinness World Record for standing-start acceleration, rocketing from rest to 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 13.63 seconds. Lightweight aluminum construction, carbon- fiber bodywork and featherweight carbon-ceramic brakes all make this extraordinary power/weight ratio possible.

"We're thrilled about what we achieved at Cape Canaveral with the Venom GT," said Hennessy CEO Don Goldman, "and now the World's Fastest Edition is a living, breathing celebration of that record achievement."

Just three World's Fastest Edition cars are being built and have already been sold at a price of $1.25 million U.S. This makes the Venom GT WFE not only the fastest but also one of the rarest supercars ever built.

      What's next for one of the world's fastest cars? Please just go ahead and make a car that goes 300 mph that way they would have already reached the limit of physics for wheeled vehicles, above that drag and friction take over and anyway you might as well be flying aircraft. Not to mention your fuel consumption would be so high you would empty your tank in 15 minutes, plus you couldn't drive it at it's limit except maybe at KSC or Bonneville, there's probably not a road flat and straight enough nor long enough to drive a fast car at it's limit anyway and good luck finding one with practically no traffic. It's kinda a waste.......unless they go make a flying car, but that would be automotive anymore would it? It would be aircraft.
