While its lightweight roadsters can give both driver and passenger the sensation of speed with the wind rushing through their hair, things at the Morgan Motor Company tend to move rather slowly. The company has been around for over a hundred years, and still produces most of its models the way it always has. So when it announces even the most minor revisions to one of them, it's a relative revolution – even if it's not likely to make many headlines.

Case in point the um, 'new' 2014 Morgan Plus 4. It's been in production since 1950, giving it an impossibly long 64-year lifespan so far, and it's not likely to be replaced any time soon. So to keep it slightly less adrift of the times, Morgan has given it a more powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine sourced (as it was before) from Ford that helps make it, along with the rest of the Morgan lineup, fully compliant with Euro 6 emissions standards. It's also got a new dashboard and instruments and a spruced-up cabin.

Buyers will be able to choose between the two-seat version pictured here or the four-seater, not to mention the Aero Coupe, Aero Supersports, Plus 8, Roadster, 4/4 and of course the updated 3 Wheeler – each of them fully customizable and made to order according to the buyer's tastes and requirements. MORGAN 3 WHEELER (NEW 2014 MODEL)

The original Morgan three wheeler is a vehicle of great historical value. First introduced in 1909, and produced until 1952, it was one of the first motorised forms of transport providing economical motoring to the masses. Completely re-engineered after 60 years, the modern 3 Wheeler was launched at Geneva in 2011 and has since met with critical acclaim from the motoring press, earning 5* reviews across the world. PLUS 4 (NEW 2014 MODEL)

Since its launch in 1950, the Morgan Plus 4 has reached iconic status around the globe. New for 2014, this model benefits from a new powerful Ford 2.0 litre engine offering stronger performance and improved environmental credentials.       I want to like this car, but that panel gap between the hood and the body is just enormous. The interior looks underwhelming as well. I was expecting more classic touches like wooden dash & engine-turned panels and the like. The modern looking switch gear and shift knob look jarring and out of place.

        I suspect the panel gap on the hood / bonnet is because it hasn't been closed properly. You can see on closeup shots the latches are not fastened.

        I'm sure you could have it ordered with a wooden or machine turned dash. I called the factory a few months ago and they hand made me a new interior for a 1960 model.
