Nissan is recalling its Frontier pickup over fire concerns, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin. A total of 13,535 vehicles are being recalled, all from the 2012 to 2014 model years, built between November 28, 2012 and December 27, 2013.

The NHTSA report states that "in the affected vehicles, a circuit breaker may have been installed incorrectly causing the main wire harness connected to the circuit breaker to face outward, potentially contacting a metal bolt located on the A-pillar." If this happens, it's possible that "the bolt may wear though the wire harness covering, resulting in an electrical short," NHTSA states. In the event of an electric short, a fire may occur.

The official recall will begin in March, where Nissan dealers will inspect the circuit breaker for the correct orientation, and if necessary, repair the vehicles, free of charge. Scroll down for the full NHTSA bulletin.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2012 through 2014 Frontier vehicles manufactured from November 28, 2012, through December 17, 2013. LOL, if only this were a GM, Ford, or Chrysler. There would be 90 comments, not 9, everybody touting imports and bashing domestics, using the recall as proof. LOL at the hypocrisy.

I would have just recalled them for being ugly. Hey, whatever happened to these jahp trucks eating Detroit's lunch? Heck, I did not even realize Nissan still bothered. Oh well, America still offers great options. Nothing to care about here.

Hi Michael, I recently purchased a used 2012 with 21K miles, and since it was still under factory warranty, took it to the dealer because of the rough idle, both with and without AC on. There is some type of computer chip that needs to be reprogrammed because "it loses it's memory". The Tech said once reprogrammed, it should never happen again. This was apparently issued as a Tech Bulletin, not a recall. FYI, since it was done all of the rough idle and vibrations have ceased! Works fine.
