European auto writers, especially the British, have a bit of a reputation for favoring their own domestic cars over foreign rivals in comparison tests. Just think about how many times you've heard Jeremy Clarkson deify the latest product of UK loins while denigrating an American rival as a hopeless "Yank Tank." However, we have to tip our hats to the folks at Autocar because in its latest video comparing the 2014 Corvette Stingray to the Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type V8 S and Audi R8, it's actually given the Vette a fair shake.

Autocar has put the Stingray through a battery of tests against what it considers to be the three best sports cars on sale in Europe today. And while the tests that it has chosen are somewhat random and subjective, it has concluded that the C7 can stand up against its rivals, even irrespective of its price. It's one thing to hear about how great the Stingray is from American writers, but it's great to know that not all Brits think we've gone crazy for calling the new Chevrolet "exquisite."

Scroll down to see how it all plays out on video.

I recently saw and sat in the C7 at a car show, and as a German who has a special place in his heart for the 911, the C7 in my opinion is definitely a worthy competitor to the new 991. The new Stingray is truly a great car, it has definitely come a long way from what it use to be a couple of years ago.

It seeems like nomatter what the Corvette is compared to, people complain! Whats a good Comparison? Theres nothing in its price range that can come close to the performance.

Agreed. To be honest, given the money I still wouldn't buy a Vette myself, but it'd be due to personal preference (looks, sound, etc.), not performance. When it comes to bang for the buck, you simply cannot deny that the Vette absolutely dominates. Plus they're (relatively) cheap to own, reliable, looks like what a genuine modern sports car and now the interior is actually a nice place to be in!

Well there are two cars that come close to the C7 in performance for the price. The GT500 and the ZL1.

Most countries are proud of, and prefer, their own makes. The US is alone in ts near fanatical anti american slant. I know of at least two trade rags that have more cars from one foreign make than all us cars in their 12 month fleet

I'm astounded at the price difference between the C7 and the other cars, and yet the performance gap is not to scale. The interior of the C7 actually looks damned good too, even considering the price (relatively speaking).

Beyond a car actively trying to kill you, performance numbers mean nothing. I would rate the fun factor highest and it seems that the Corvette has it nailed. Anyone remember how 10 years ago they used to compare the Clio V6 against the Elise or the Boxter and it would get completely outclassed in performance and quality. However, at the end the testers would always say something like "I choose the Clio, because it made me feel alive."

The Vette looks like a clown car running with these others. The Porsche is hands down a better driving car, the R8 is the true mid engine exotic, and the Jag is about the only one the Vette is better than. You get what you pay for.

The Vette looks like a clown car running with these others you say? Well by that statement, you sound like a clown and by looking at your profile pic; you look like a clown too.

Your derogatory statements towards me does not change the fact that I think the C7 looks like **** compared to these clean sleek euro's.

wikiddsc300 your subjective opinion holds little value, the vette will outsell the others with only the Porsche coming close, and as the comparison proves it is both more affordable and better.

Yeah, a much smarter, well rounded, apparently WAY less biased person actually just reviewed these cars and thinks the opposite of you. Did you even watch the video? And you're right that you get what you pay for, in the corvettes case, a much better value. Which do you own, I wonder?

I mean if we wanted to make a generalization about something we could all make fun of the 220 HP 2JZ YO!!!!!! in your Sc300 and the fact that its probably close to 15 years old but we wont because as we who arent blinded fanboys know, it was a great engine(I dunno about the car but I have an idea it wasnt a world beater) and deserves respect from anyone who considers themselves an automotive fan. See how that works?

Yesterday when I saw an F12 Berlinetta, I was thinking gee. Corvette stole a page from their book. You probably don't like the F12 Berlinetta, though.

The Corvette is still an American car, which by mere definition are a load of crap. Not a simple video will change decades of legend engineering from the Germans and class from the Brits or pure passion from the Italians. One decent car does not change years of crap. Sorry Corvette, but you are still nothing more than a simple Chevrolet. Nice try though. P.S. You do make good pick-up trucks.

Bongos are the sh!ttiest drums in existence, which by mere definition are a load of crap. They're made on ancient technology. I can stretch a goat skin over a gourd, too! One decently made bongo does not change years of crap. Sorry Bongo, but you are nothing more than stretched goat skin. P.S. At least you're good for percussion sounds.

Those who disagree with the above statement, consider this: European automakers - Top brass have an engineering background (usually PhDs). Japanese automakers - Top brass have an engineering background (usually PhDs). U.S. Automakers - Top brass have a business/marketing background (usually MBAs). In automotive circles, who would you rather trust, an engineer or an MBA?

It doesn't take an engineer at the top to make good product decisions. Though GM's new CEO has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
