The quirky Hyundai Veloster range is expanding, and we'll see the next take of the Korean automaker's hatchback at the Chicago Auto Show next week. Buried in a release about the company's social media activities, which you can read below, is a line confirming the "reveal of the newest addition to the Veloster lineup."

Mum's the word on what to expect in the world of Veloster, but our best-guess is that it won't be something Earth-shattering. Keep in mind, Hyundai just used the LA Auto Show as its venue to debut the Veloster Turbo R-Spec – a lower-cost, performance-minded version of its hot-ish hatch. Whether or not this new model builds upon the base car (pictured) or the more potent Turbo, remains to be seen.

We'll have the full scoop next week, so stay tuned.

I had such high hopes for the turbo and this car in general. In concept and on paper i love it, but it is somehow soulless. a few tweaks focusing on feel and it could be a real winner. sonata turbo would still give the car around 34mpg hwy while being a performance monster.....just like an accord coupe LOL

Yes. Once Hyundai figures out steering feedback and sorts out their jumpy rear suspension, I'll be a lot more interested in their cars.

2.0T from the sonata with an updated, DCT and 6 speed manual and all wheel drive, much improved suspension and better brakes with fatter wheels? I can dream right?

Exactly what I was thinking since the supposed "N" performance models are supposed to start making an appearance, along with the new addition of the HTRAC system to the product line it wouldn't be that much of a stretch. Hyundai/KIA still has two transmissions (7DCT/10AT) they've been working on that haven't appeared in production yet.

God I hope so, I would trade my Sonata 2.0T in a heart beat for that!

I see the resemblance but it doesn't really change the way I perceive the car. Not like the clown face on the new S Class steering wheel

The 2 spoke steering wheel on the S class is the worst thing ever

It's already so bad I don't see how Hyundai could possibly make anything worse.
