If you've been watching the evolving rapprochement between Infiniti and Red Bull Racing, and have wondered what the point was if the Japanese automaker didn't capitalize on its expensive collaboration with the world-champion Formula One team, then Infiniti may finally have the answer come the Detroit Auto Show next month.

That's where Nissan's premium division is set to unveil the Q50 Eau Rouge concept, a show car set to showcase its F1 involvement in the form of a jazzed-up sports sedan. We still don't have much to go on in terms of what the concept car will actually entail beyond a body kit, but Infiniti has launched a dedicated website for the reveal and with it, this teaser video. It still doesn't tell us much, but it's a cool animation just the same, so check it out below.

So Infiniti heavily sponsors Red Bull Racing, but doesn't make fast street cars to compete with the M3's, C63's, IS-F's, RS4's or ATS-V's. That makes absolutely no sense at all. Why get involve in F1?

Simple - no communication between marketing and engineering. I am predicting this car is just a wheel and trim job straight from the marketing dept. destined to be dusty showroom fodder with a $10,000 write-down this time next year.

Infiniti=Nissan=Renualt... Hence, the team name switched from Red Bull Renault to Infiniti Red Bull. No investment needed since the parent company already had the sponsorship deal. They can "spin" it anyway they want, but if dad buys a cup of coffee everyday and his son decides to buy dad a cup of coffee with dad's money who's really paying for it?

Looks like a Malibu in that screen shot......

Hopefully it doesn't have the stupid Drive-By-Wire system.

I'll take a G37 over the Q50. Infiniti has lost the plot.

Well, the Q50 certainly looks better, especially in person. Design wise Infiniti couldn't top the original G35 coupe for some reason. The Q50 makes no pretense these days. It's not a BMW fighter anymore, it offers no manual. Hopefully the Eau Rouge brings some much needed sport, but I won't hold my breath.

^^ yah but if you want LUXURY + MANUAL you gotta buy a BMW. At least 90% of their cars can have a manual option

The G37 Sedan and Coupe were just awesome in every way. I had a 6MT coupe for a few years. Now, that fun is gone, along with the manual transmission :(

Why did you sell it? I've been occasionally tempted to look at G37s...

Dear Infiniti: If you make an commercial like that, you better have something to back it up. V6TT hybrid with at least 500hp, adjustable suspension, active aero. If not - prepared to be booed off stage at Detroit. On a side note, all the recent Infiniti ads and marketing campaign seem like a bunch of irrelevant waste of money. Who is in charge of Infiniti marketing these days!?
