Yesterday, we brought you the image above, sent out by Lexus, teasing its Detroit Auto Show reveal. At the time, all we knew about the car was that it's a coupe, and falls into the automaker's F performance line. But now, some more details have leaked.

Lexus RC F inviteAn anonymous tipster passed us a link to this website, which Lexus is using to invite folks to an event at the Detroit show where the new RC F coupe will be revealed. But that same tipster also sent us a scan of the mailed-out invitation, shown at right (click the image to enlarge), which clearly states that the RC F will be powered by a 460-horsepower V8. The invite also says Lexus will show its 2015 RC 350 coupe in Detroit, following its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in November.

We cannot totally verify the authenticity of the scanned invitation, but with a corresponding website live on the web, it all looks pretty legit to us. Stay tuned for more details closer to the RC F's debut in January.

I'd take less power with a manual transmission, which describes the BMW M3/M4 BD

I for one welcome ANY new V-8 powered vehicle. They are becoming rare. Im sure it will be fun even if its not as powerful as the latest model from (fill in the blank).

agreed i respect Lexus for keeping the V8 and not some Turbo V6 like everyone else. Nothing feels like a V8 or sounds like a V8

Yes, pretty weak compared to the CTS-V, which plays in a different segment (M5, RS6, E63)......its decent compared to the M3, but the problem with this is if the engine is a NA V8 it won't have good launch time like turbocharged engine and probably won't be able to keep up further after that.......lexus needs to invest heavily into newer powerplants cause the ATS-V will be a TTV6 likely with 465-500 HP.........the competition isnt playing this time around....

Wrong segment. The CTS-V is bigger and heavier (4,200lbs quite the pig) than what the RC-F will most likely be as it is aimed at the M4 (3,500lbs). The CTS-V is a M6, RS5, E-Class Coupe, ect.... competitor. But don't let logic get in the way of your Lexus bashing.

This is going to be freaking sweet. M4 fighting performance and it has more power cant wait to see this I can already hear that V8 turning over..... with Lexus luxury and reliability.. hard combinations to beat.

Hope your happy with stock HP as the DME will not be tunable, whereas the M4/3 will be walking by with a simple tune, downpipes, ect.

I'm sure it will be tunable. There's someone, somewhere out there getting ready to mod this baby.

If their rumored HP is to believed then they are going to need a tune and downpipe just to keep up!

Can't wait. The RC concept was gorgeous, and with a proper V8 under the hood it becomes a dream car for me.

This week the Car Concerns Radio USA "Ride-of-the-Week" is the fascinating 2014 Lexus IS 350 AWD in a speedy Atomic Silver finish. If there has ever been a flawless vehicle manufactured on the Planet Earth this Lexus qualifies. At a great price point as well with an MSRP under $50k. Value is not-an-option...it's built in...standard.

This car will be way more sexy than the 4 Series and Mercedes E Coupe :-)

Seems very un-Lexus like to throw in a V8 that plays the numbers game. Lexus usually is always underpowered in terms of numbers, but 460hp V8 is quite something. I'm curious to how this pans out.
