Because Dubai is a rather silly land, today we bring you this - a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that's just joined the Dubai Fire Brigade. Courtesy of our friends at Drive Arabia, we wouldn't expect to see this at the scene of many actual fires.

Instead, this is more or less a publicity stunt on wheels, meant to draw attention to the Fire Brigade at local events and car shows. Aside from the lightbar, it looks mostly like a stock C7 Stingray. The livery, neon yellow and red, is fairly fetching, giving this Vette an even greater aesthetic impact than it already enjoys.

Take a look up top for images of the latest addition to Dubai's growing fleet of municipal sports cars.

I look forward to the day when we no longer import oil from this part of the world. Putting obscene profits on display is not good business. I wonder how Corvette tastes on a bun?

Contrary to popular belief, in Dubai itself little of their money anymore actually comes from oil. It's something like 6% of their economy.

I heard they want to put fires out using it as the retardant. I think that's a very appropriate application for this car...

Wow that takes the ugliness of the new vette to a whole new level.

Its just a stock vette. I would be more interested in that brabus G-Wagon in the background.

Ah yes, and the Dubai Fire Department slogan is "Another foundation saved" and by the way, our plastic Corvette just melted down!

Publicity stunt indeed - notice there's no Arabic writing on the car at all! It's intended for foreigners to gawk at.

Google the truth about Dubai. It's a joke. Slave labor, no water, etc. The whole place would dry up in 24 hours if not for the insane money READ: DEBT, keeping it going. America meet your new bombing range.
