Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?

- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus
- Mercedes-Benz SLS Black Series
- Porsche 911 GT3
- Alfa Romeo 4C
- Ferrari F12 Berlinetta
- Porsche Cayman S
- Mini Cooper John Cooper Works GP

Head on down to watch CotY 2013, which comes in two parts and lasts almost 30 minutes - but we assure you it's worth your time.

The British do not fear a plastic toy with suspension from the middle ages.

I didn't realize they had fiberglass transverse mono-leaf springs in the middle ages. Must have been some great handling ox carts.

It's a personal rating, which means it will always remain highly subjective. Rambling about how they didn't choose the Corvette ZR1 (which wasn't a new car for 2013 btw...) won't change their opinion.

        ZR1 is not a 2013 model.

That is the worst color for an aston martin. Seriously these cars can be beautiful, but mustard puke with black accents and black lipstick? Just a horrible way to paint this beautiful automobile

Here's a question - which car would you rather be seen in? For me, it's the F12. Actually, I take it back. For me, it's the Aventador - which wasn't in the comparison.

If your buying one of these cars to be seen in...you to miss the point of this video.

Anyone else think the Aston is massively over-ranked here? Most reviews say that the new single clutch transmission is awful. It's absurd that it placed above the R8 V10 Plus. I guess that's the old British bias.

Im totaly dissapointed in Evo, but I can understand that they have to eat too, and to get to exclusives you have to "give something in return to automakers". This was evident when they chose Exige S over superb bang for the buck M135i or GT86 last year. GT3 may be good car, but it isnt nowhere near the ultimate drivers car for 2013. Heavy front V12, not even front midengined. F12 Berlinetta is faster and more complete driver. Even the 991 GT3 with its sequentiall box should be better. I've driven the V12 Vantage and 997.2 RS and they are miles apart.

Who is this guy? "To me, the SLS Black felt more balanced than the F12."

F12 for me, or maybe the F-Type at a more attainable level. I understand the love for 911's, they really are the complete package, but they're just the predictable choice and so so boring.

I have come to the conclusion that anyone who thinks a 911 is boring has never driven one. Just going out on a limb here....

Porsche knows its customers really well and in my view GT3 is certainly not lacking any emotion. Is it as mechanical in feel as the Aston? No, but it still offers plenty of oversteer induced smiles.

If the 911 bit in the second video from 9 minutes to end didn't bring tears to your eyes then you have no sense of excitement for pleasures of life.

I think the GT3 had the win. Porsche makes the most spectacularly technical cars, and they're usually cars you don't only need to drive on the track to enjoy. However, I thought it was bullshit how much this amateur trashed the 4C, a 45.000 euro car that does the same time 'round the Nurburgring as the R8 V8. And when he said "to me, the SLS Black is more balanced than the F12", even though I've never driven either of them, I saw this guy didn't know what he was talking about. All you have to do is see every other video about them. Also, why not the Jag? I mean, they had the bullshit Mini Cooper in there.

I just added Route Napoleon to my Bucket List, and I would enjoy it with any of these cars except maybe the 4C.

Looks like this is the the car Ford is using as inspiration for the next gen Mustang. Apparently Ford likes Aston Martin's look

After the initial hype surrounding the 4C, looks like it is out the window as a proper sports car. Ouch, but typically Alfa, it sucks you in with styling and promises of fun, but then you find out that's got a motor from a hatchback and lackluster steering, plus awful headlights. Sort of like talking to a gorgeous girl who seems interested in you, only then to find out that she's got a boyfriend. Unrealized potential.

I believe this was a pre-production prototype, so it's possible that the production model may fix some of these issues.
