Last week Nissan revealed the first teaser image previewing its upcoming new Qashqai. That one was wearing a big sheet and showed us little other than its basic shape and a few highlighted details, but now the Japanese automaker has released the first undisguised-ish image of the new European-market crossover.

From the image above we can tell the new Qashqai will carry the familiar face of Nissan's latest crossovers well, with the U-shaped grille and angular LED accents in the headlamp clusters. The sharp creases in the hood also make it stand out as quintessentially Japanese, particularly in a crossover market where they can all start to look the same.

We'll have to wait just a few more days to see the full thing, with the reveal set for November 7, but Nissan also released a tidy infographic showing just how successful the outgoing Qashqai has been for it in the European market. Check it out below.

Help me out here, how do you pronounce qashqai? Kashky? Kwash-ki? Cashcai? Anyone actually heard Carlos Ghosn say the name of this vehicle?
Cash-Kai. There's a good reason Nissan chose not to let the name be disembowelled by Americans.

I think ANY English-speaking country would have trouble with that name.

Although they are similar in size the first editions are not exactly the same models, when you see the cars up close the European model is better looking and superior, The European Qashqai has won numerous awards beating out the CRV, Rav4 and many others, its a top seller, the Rouge is bland. The 2nd editions look good, I'm not sure if they are the same or not, Ive not seen either up close.

I believe they are the same model, Rogue in USA, Qashqai in Europe!

I don't think so. Qashqai will be smaller than the Rogue. Some markets have both Qashqai and X-Trail. I don't think Qashqai and X-Trail will become one vehicle.

I really like that Nissan is making polarizing designs, the fact that they don't just look like appliances for the road is reason enough alone to buy one over a honda or toyota.

The Qashqai will be smaller than the Rogue (X-Trail) because the Qashqai+7 will cease to exist and the X-Trail will take over that place into the lineup as a slightly roomier crossover.

The way the hood is sculpted reminds me of a snake head, nice job.

Soooo, they're unifying the Rogue, X-Trail and Qashqai, then.
