In the pantheon of 80s pop culture, few cars have such provenance as the Ferrari 308. Sure, vehicular icons like the DeLorean and Pontiac Trans Am (especially in time machine and KITT guise) made us swoon back in the day, but there's something about the bright red Italian that makes it stand out; perhaps it is the 308's performance credibility, at least when compared to other memorable cars of its ilk.

Our fondness for Magnum PI's Ferrari 308 is shared by Oscar Verdugo, who's featured in the video you'll see below. Brought to you by theAFICIONAUTO, this video highlights the bond between the men and women who own and love such so-called star cars, and it focuses on one particular 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSI. The 308 has 80s hotness. Sure new Ferarris are faster/lighter, but the 308 has old school swagger.

Beyond the awesome bodywork that still looks great 30+ years later, the simplicity of the interior is simply killer...steering wheel with no airbag bulge/buttons, simple gauge pod and the gated shifter. All anyone really needs with a car like that....no touchscreen stereonav could ever sound better than what that engine produces.

The 308 has that perfect blend of 60s curves & 70s wedge. It's one of my dream cars regardless of the fact that is now only moderately fast. The thrill of its beauty, roar of the quad cam v8 & spartan, but luxurious cabin makes this car a great classic ride.

That sure is a beautiful example. I kinda like the slightly thicker/chunkier styling of the 288 better - but this 308 sure is nice. It's cool that the 458's seats mimic the upholstery in this 308. And was that a steel blue Testarossa in the background inside the garage?

There were so many bad cars in the 80s which makes this car even more special. Beautiful, timeless machine.

Yet another car video ruined by music. Let the car speak for itself, especially in this case.

I'll say what everyone is thinking: this car is outdated crap. There are new cars that cost $40,000 or less (basically free) that blow this ole thing away. What's the point of owning a Ferrari if it's a fossil and worth less than a new camry????

Have you ever looked at a Camry? I'd prefer to kill myself if I had to look at the dashboard of a boring Toyota every morning.

I realize you're probably just trolling for reactions with a stupid statement like that. Judging the value and importance of a car based on it's 0 to 60 time is pointless and ignorant. All cars are a snapshot in time, and should be enjoyed for their beauty and the pleasure they bring. This car and many others like it will always be beautiful and should be appreciated for their significance to our automotive history,

Great piece. The 308 is a classic Ferrari worthy of admiration. Also.. The D bags that love to say how rice kernels of today would wip it's rump...sure why not, it's like comparing a 358 Italia to a classic Corolla... Can you idiots be that stupid? Really... Eff off . it is a Ferrari... Enough said you stupid idiots

Amazing that today a Hyundai Sonata 2.0 turbo has 34hp more. I wonder how it really handles with its 205/70 14 tires. Not sure what is with the yellow badges that owners are adding these days as these cars never had them originally
