"Anything you can do, I can do better." That seems to be what Gran Turismo 6 developer Polyphony Digital is saying with its fifth concept movie, which stars Australia's legendary Mount Panorama Circuit, home of the Bathurst 1000. While arch-nemesis Forza Motorsport 5 is sponsoring a car for the upcoming Bathurst 1000 race and including the track in the upcoming title, the Gran Turismo 6 camp has struck back, showing a gorgeous rendering of assorted vehicles being flung around the 3.8-mile, 23-turn track. We're still waiting to see Turn 10 Studios' portrayal of Mount Panorama.

It's not explained if this is actual game footage or not, but if it is from the game, Polyphony is baking some serious magic into GT6. The cars, the sounds, and of course, the gorgeous track, all come together to create a truly beautiful racing simulation. For us, the only way it could be better is if the game's designers had opted to use actual V8 Supercars rather than the race and production models shown. Perhaps they're keeping them as a surprise for the finished product. Take a look at the entire video down below.

The most disappointing thing about GT is the engine sounds. If they fix that and add interiors to all the cars, the game will be amazing.

the sounds in this video are obviously added in post production. the game demo (sadly) has the same horrible buzzing sounds of gt5. many videos on youtube shows that no improvement was made on sound of GT6. and this is very disappointing.

I saw that, too. I believe those are a bunch of Gordon Murray's Light Car Company Rockets. If so, that will be very fun.

Gran Turismo has been surpassed in so many different ways by other racing games, I fail to see why it still gets so much attention.....

If it's any disappointment like prior GT games, all the cars will end up sounding like hair-dryer's when the finished product hits shelves. Though different pitches of hair-drying.

I hope gt6 has tons of changes. I was a gt fan until I played forza then it was game over. Forza is a sim that allows car enthusiasts to customize the car like they'd want it. Forza has a much better interface and isn't nearly as tedious to play. When I play gt I feel like all I'm doing is watching loading screens and not playing a game.

I don't care about customizing in a racing game. I want to be able to tweak settings to pull an extra 10th of a second out of a lap and have that tweak be close to real world. I get accused of cheating often in GT V games online because I take the time to set up cars to handle at different tracks. I even have a binder with settings for quick reference. It's rewarding to be able to win on skill and education.

Viper and Corvette are in front? Are they racing backwards?

Yes. That is gameplay footage. As for GT6, PD learned a lot from the problems of GT5. The sounds are being worked on heavily and the suspension physics were were developed with KW's help. GT6 is actually shaping lup to be what GT5 should have been. If not better. Check out gtplanet's site for more info.

As someone who has always owned both Playstation and Xbox for each gen, I have to say the last Gran Turismo for PS3 was a huge disappointment. The gameplay and setup was terrible, and there weren't near enough traditional A-type races. I played it for 2 weeks and quit, and went back to Forza. Also, their sounds are all terrible once you mod a car. It would be great if they could figure out a way to at least get some of the mods right. Exhaust should make it louder, a cam/stroker motor should make it lope, etc. Also, their Max HP available from mods are grossly inaccurate. A Viper can easily make 1100-1300 reliable RWHP on pump gas. That's well over 1500HP at the crank. There are a host of other cars that are well known and also make ridiculous amounts of HP. I understand they aren't practical for racing sims, but it'd be nice to be able to do it. Maybe add a heat soak feature. At least Forza was able to duplicate how uncontrollable high HP forced induction cars are. Time will tell if they step up to the plate.

@sixsix, I cannot possible agree more. After playing GT5, I was in utter shock and disbelief that a game that was in development for over five years and cost $60 million to make, made by a developer well known for its attention-to-detail, and developed during the existence of modern AV technology (HD, DTS) could be released so woefully, insultingly, and obviously unfinished. To anyone that owns a halfway decent 5.1 setup, this game was sonically embarrassing. Even my wife, who couldn't possibly tell the difference between a set of homemade speakers from RadioShack from a pair of MartinLogans walked into the room while I was playing and asked why my Corvette sounded like a vacuum cleaner filtered through a white noise generator. Quite simply, there's no excuse for not including different exhaust/engine notes for each car in a modern gaming platform. You also bring up great points about the modding system. I may not be a fan of every type of car, but as a car enthusiast I'm at least casually aware that some cars take to mods extremely well, and yet others don't. It really seemed like the GT team lacked this rudimentary understanding of modifications. It just feels like dropping a touchdown shovel pass; it would've been way too easy for Polyphony to employ a small team of researchers to pin down how each car responds to what modifications. Hell, automotive forums and aftermarket tuning shops would've been exuberant to help Polyphony retrieve this information. Because of the bag over the head, punch in the face that GT5 was, I'm afraid I'll pass on GT6 unless it comes out to near universal praise.

Same here. I haven't played GT5 in well over a year but I play Forza several times a week and still really enjoy it.
