If you're like us, Alfa Romeo's long-awaited and oft-promised return to the United States will be a joyous event, not least because it'll be heralded by the car you see above - the 4C. Drive's Chris Harris was at the launch in Italy, putting the punchy, lightweight Alfa Romeo through its paces, and doing a bit of sliding around on the Balocco proving grounds.

Generally, Harris is a fan of the Alfa, explaining that it sits rather neatly between the Porsche Cayman and Lotus Elise in most areas. He did have a few small criticisms, but they seemed mostly outweighed by the positives. Take a look below for the full video from Drive.

I'd rather think that this 4c is particularly feminine. If headlights be eyes of the car then this car has sparkly eye stuff, makeup, whatever the real term is.

It has spider eyes and most girls won't come anywhere near it.

those aren't spider eyes. you'll know spider eyes when you see spider eyes on a car. those are lights in housing. The housing aint the prettiest I agree.

I had a good laugh at this comment. The 4C really is a fantastic looking/handling/sounding car. I'd take an Exige too though ;)

Well I think the headlights are just wonderful. They are unique and look very well on the car. Some people are just too conservative.

What the video does NOT show is the moment when Chris Harris got out of the 4C and the next car blogger got in and immediately got out again screaming, \"Matches! Someone get me a match!\" Sadly, Chris Harris smells like a mouldy piece of cod that has been dipped in fart sauce.

gorgeous car, and those headlights you know will be fixed asap, either by alfa or Autodelta/Zender/Novitec will be happy to help you out...

Maybe they will fix the headlights with a facelift in a few years. Porsche's mistake with the 996 fried-egg headlamps looks minor in comparison.

Beautiful car and I appreciate its existence, but I'd still go with a Cayman S over this.
