According to Fox News, NASCAR has handed down an indefinite ban from all series events and a $2,500 fine to Kelly Heaphy, girlfriend of Camping World Truck Series driver Mike Skeen. Heaphy open-hand slapped her boyfriend's rival, Max Papis, after Sunday's race.

The incident, which we reported on yesterday Tuesday, came about after Papis and Skeen came together while battling for third position on the last lap. Papis made some statements on air that led Heaphy to pounce, delivering a slap that reportedly led to Papis claiming his jaw had been dislocated. It's unclear if punishments were handed down to the pit crews, which rumbled ahead of Heaphy slapping Papis. If you missed it the first time, you can catch the incident on video below.

      How can NASCAR fine her? I could fine her boyfriend I suppose, but what affiliation does she have with the sport?

        I guess she must have an official role with the team. Whether it's assault doesn't really matter with regards to a NASCAR fine if she's not a part of NASCAR. NASCAR doesn't have the right to hand down legal punishment.

          @Cayman
          Ban her, sure. But how can they enfore a fine on a member of the public? Unless she has some official title/duties with a team NASCAR can\'t issue her a fine that has any ability to be enforced.

        She's been indefinitely banned from all NASCAR events and they will not even consider lifting the ban until after she pays the fine.

      I am just plain sick of woman running around hitting men because society allows it. If someone lays there hands on another, then they are more than willing to have that individual lay hands on them, period! Man, woman, black, white, brown, avatar, I don't care.
