If there was any doubt that the latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise wouldn't be good, we're pretty certain the game's official trailer, just released by Rockstar Games, will be enough to erase it from the collective minds of the public. We've got the one-minute launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto V, and it shows everything from the cinematic sequences and arguments among the crew to some of the heists that players will be able to undertake.

We've followed GTAV rather obsessively since word of the game first broke out, and every piece of it that we see gets us more and more excited for the eventual product. The game's three protagonists get plenty of face time in this trailer, which shows that they'll all have some actual depth, rather than the recyclable, generic backstories of previous GTA heroes.

Just in case you need another reminder, Grand Theft Auto V will hit stores on September 17, and will be available on both Microsoft and Sony gaming consoles. Take a scroll down below for the official launch trailer.

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a street hustler looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.

Grand Theft Auto V is coming September 17th.

Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, Lara Croft, Bioshock Infinite, GTA V ... it has been a good year to be a gamer. I'm going to have to let a couple of games slip into the bargain bin. I just don't have time to play them all.

Can't wait. Unfortunately, since I'm a PC gamer, I don't have a choice but to wait.... Oh well, here's to hoping it comes out a month or 2 behind the console release.

Hopefully it'll be better optimized than GTA IV was.

Most other GTA releases on the PC came 7 - 8 months after the Playstation version. GTA III October 2001 for PS2, May 2002 for Windows GTA Vice City October 2002 for PS2, May 2003 for Windows (October 2003 XBOX) GTA San Andreas October 2004 for PS2, June 2005 for Windows (and XBOX) GTA IV April 2008 April 2008 for PS3 and 360, December 2008 for Windows I would not hold your breath for a port until late spring or summer, considering they probably also want to have ports for XBOX One and PS4 as well. I'm holding out for a 25% off Steam sale next summer.

"If there was any DOUBT that the latest installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise WOULDN'T be good, we're pretty certain the game's official trailer... will be enough to erase it..." Not to be a grammar nazi or anything, but that sentence doesn't make sense... at least not in the way you intended it. I shouldn't have to explain why. We all passed Language Arts in elementary school I assume. Anyway, yea, game looks good.

"he recyclable, generic backstories of previous GTA heroes." Here's why I don't agree about most GTA protagonists *at least the ones in 3D*. GTA III - Main character was a silent protagonist, which ended up being a character strength as it allowed people to project themselves onto the character easily. Vice city - This game is the unofficial "scarface" game, referencing it constantly as well as other 80's staples. To fit this game model, they had to pick a typical 80's guy, and he could not be cuban or they would be sued. Tommy Vercetti filled this role excellently. San Andreas - Trying hard to encompass the early 90's south central LA culture, what they accomplished was an assorted bag of racial stereotypes. CJ Johnson manages to be dull, generic and insulting all at the same time. Perhaps, like almost every other aspect of the game, they just tried to hard. CJ is the worst protagonist in the worst of the *mainstream* modern GTA games. GTA 4 - Niko Bellic is a career criminal and an illegal immigrant from Europe, breaking the stereotype that all illegal immigrants come from south of the border. He shows a side of American society many people never even give much though to and spends the whole game trying to get revenge, ending in disappointment and ultimately, tragedy. GTA "stories" games - I do not count these as full titles, since they use recycled content and consistently have had lower production values, which shows in the main characters. Out of the four stories games, only Luis Fernando Lopez from "Ballad of Gay Tony" stands out much, and even he is overshadowed by his sidekick/boss Tony Prince and his flamboyant/stereotypical personality. So out of 4 main games, they had 3 good lead characters.

I don't think CJ was a dull character, it's just Smoke, Ryder and Toreno dominated CJ in terms of entertainment.

The way I see it Tommy and CJ are back in GTA V.

I wonder if Ray Liotta was paid by Rockstar for using his likeness, "almost" sounds like him too and I could totally see him playing this role. Maybe Jason Statham as the crazy friend?

It's the TV spot. They gotta keep it short so they can put it on air.
