If there was any doubt before about which car(s) Audi recently teased in a video, now we know for sure. Audi has released another teaser video that confirms we'll at least be seeing the 2015 Audi S8 (and very likely the A8 as well) in the near future, but the big surprise is just how soon we'll see the new flagship sedan. We originally expected to see the sedan receive its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but now Audi says that the car will be presented about three weeks before the event on August 21.

How do we know this is the S8? Well, aside from it obviously being a large sedan, the true tell that this is its A8/S8 is the front license plate, which clearly shows "S8" on it – we've been doing this long enough to know that Audi's promotional license plates have the model designation in the plate number. As for other details, Audi's trick Matrix headlights shine through the thin veil in what should be the crown jewel of the sedan's new face. There's a little more than a week to go until the car is unveiled, but for now, check out the video below.

Bigger, more obnoxious grill? Check. Gimmicky LED headlight treatment? Check. Bland styling everywhere else? Check. A new Audi is born.

People like you are the reason why manufacturers think they have to add all sorts of swoops and creases and curves and fake air vents to everything. It's not bland; it's restrained and minimalist. Some people don't need or want a car that shouts "look at me" to everyone else. Admittedly, the headlights aren't very restrained, but most people (other than the people who perpetually hate on LED lights for I don't even know what reason) agree that the headlights on recent Audis look sharp and aggressive. As for the grille. I do agree, it could be a bit smaller, but they still pull off the big grille thing better than some other manufacturers have of late (I'm looking at you, Mazda.)

Yes but the A8 truly looks like a box. I don't mind minimalism, but the design of the a8 is based on just two rectangles.

Using the words Audi and minimalist together just doesn't make any sense. There are way too many lines, creases, trim pieces and otherwise unnecessary design elements coming out of Audi today. I wish they were minimalist, but that ship has sailed.

Hate to break it to you, but your "Gimmicky LED headlight treatment" is actually a new headlight system that automatically adjust to on-comming traffic making the roads and your driving safer rather than blinding other drivers (or them blinding you) ... And apparently bland styling is selling as they keep beating their sales records. For people that want non-functional hood-scoops, vents, aero-kits, fins, bulges, etc that do nothing there are plenty of cars our there for your "excitement" ... I'll enjoy driving my bland styling any day of the week ...

They're going to look just like the last A8/S8, which looks like the A6 and A7, which have the same exact shape as the A3 and A4, which sprouted the A5, which looks like the Q5, which shares lines with the Q3, and most likely the new Q7 will be exactly the same as well.

Just like the new Lexus IS looks exactly like the ES which looks identical to the LS which the designers based on the GS, or the Infiniti Q50 which looks identical to the QX60 which looks identical to the QX, or the Bimmer 5 which looks identical to the 3 (especially from the back) which looks identical to the 7. It's called design language, learn about it.

Forgot to mention the the ATS looks like a twin of the current CTS and the new CTS looks identical to the XTS!!

Audi's are one brand the "slow reveal" just doesn't work on... they basically all look about the same. I like Audi, but their appearance is rarely surprise.

cant wait. I love the performance of the V8TT S8, and love the noise of the old V10 S8. Combine those attributes in this new vehicle, and Audi dominance will continue. Love a super limo that sounds and goes as fast as a supercar.

Maybe they can remake "Ronin" with the new S8?

Love that wet T-Shirt look. Here's hoping the car comes with that big, silk sheet.
