Fernando Alonso is quite cool behind the wheel, as evidenced by an earlier video where he gave a full interview while actively hooning a Ferrari F12 around the Nürburgring. So when you see the Spaniard somber-faced and sweating while hustling a Ferrari LaFerrari around the Scuderia's Fiorano test track, you know the new hypercar is pretty demanding.

Alonso doesn't give commentary on this one (except to the engineers at the end), but he does wrestle the 949-horsepower hybrid around the track. It does look like a handful. Take a look below for the full video.

A tremendously ugly car with a ridiculous name. The McLaren P1 isn't any better looking.

The dude drives Ferrari race cars for a living, makes 20 Million Euros a year, and hangs out in Monte Carlo with supermodels. I think his sense of style is probably more refined than yours. But yes, they are ugly.

Because we all live in the USA. But yeah they are ugly, but who cares when you are Fernando Alonso, and a ferrari is what you drive for living.

I'd be curious to see how another great driver might look driving the car, to compare. Alonso is reputed to have a unique driving style in F1, completely different to others, where he puts a huge amount of steering input at the beginning of the turn and then scrubs the turning radius as he's going through with the throttle -- basically understeering through the corner, but somehow being fast at it. I'd love to know if that is what he does in a road car, too, but I'm not good enough to get an impression via a video like this. Anyone else able to tell?

It looked to me like he was doing that 1:13 and 1:34.

It doesn't look "like a handful". It just looks like Alsonso is expertly, but still calmly, driving a 949HP supercar, not a Prius.
