Subaru BRZ STI teaser imageComing Soon. With those two words, Subaru has officially dropped a confirmation bomb on our expectations for a higher performance version of the much-loved BRZ coupe, known, of course, as the Subaru BRZ STI. Two teaser images are being shown on the Japanese web-side home of STI along with the promise of 'coming soon,' and there's also a rather lovely looking set of twisty roads with the words 'Purity of Handling.'

There's not much we can glean from the two teaser images, but we're expecting an aggressive body package to go along with a significant increase in horsepower from the BRZ STI. We're also not totally clear on what 'coming soon' really means – the auto show season will be kicking off in full swing this fall, and we wouldn't be surprised to see a debut in Los Angeles. That said, you'll know more just as soon as we do.

Just add the turbo already. Give the people what they want.

All this car needed was more power. STI = problem solved. Hopefully it will have at least 240 hp.

Subaru did show off a tS "tuned by STI" BRZ today at 86 expo at Fuji Speed way which featured the same "STI" fender garnish from this teaser as well as the "STI" badge under the mustache grille. It also featured a club spoiler and new exhaust. I hope Subaru wasnt teasing that car because it had the same 200hp engine.

According to FT86club & 7tune its just a aero/brake/tire package (similar to m sport package for BMW) available only to Japan. What a bust

It's about time, I just wonder What Toyota /Scion's performance variant will be called, assuming they are developing one as well

Turbo chances look slim. Still cool though. Cooler with a turbo however

What!!! I had no idea they were doing this. Is it coming in AWD? Is the chassis even designed to accommodate a front diff, gearing, etc?

All Subaru Boxers are oil leaking, head gasket blowing vehicles. I don't understand why they don't fix this issue that has haunted them for 20 years. I wish Toyota had produced the drivetrain.

Is this a joke? I own a 2000 Subaru 2.5rs with about 175,000 miles and it has had no major issues, Subaru boxers are one of the most reliable engines out there. Couple that with its inherent low center of gravity and that's why its used in the BRZ/FRS.

They do get this car. It's just underpowered. Funny thing when you criticize this car you get all the fan boys that try to make us believe that this is even fun in a straight line, that we don,t get it. It might be fun in the curves but it sure won't make you smile on the straights.

I'm guessing you pulled that out of your ass. Oh, and I do "get" this car. I own one. And sorry, but it does need more horsepower.
