On Sunday, August 4th (yep, that's tomorrow), a prototype version of the all-new Acura NSX will make its public track debut ahead of the Honda 200 IndyCar race. Acura has already given us a short video snippet to enjoy, but now it's added one more to get our hearts racing just a little more.

Before you watch it, make sure your speakers or headphones are turned up, because what the low-resolution video lacks in visual quality, it more than makes up for with its audio of the NSX's exhaust screaming as the car tackles Mid-Ohio. And at the end of the video, the caption reads "watch the NSX racing prototype take a lap."

Acura isn't joking either. From what we hear, the car is expected to take one lap before the race and then disappear for the weekend. Scroll down to see and hear the NSX in action.

If I wanted a reliable daily driver for a super car I bet this will tick that box. As far as performance? I am expecting to be underwhelmed but hope I am wrong.

Seriously Honda? A treaser? To that i say F.U.!!! the last NSX went out of production in 2005. 8 FREAKING YEARS AGO. Since then we have seen V10 rumors, hybrid rumors, Mid engine concepts like this http://www.japanesesportcars.com/photos/d/1717-2/2003+honda+hsc+concept+_5_.jpg followed by front engine concepts followed by rehashing of the first mid engine concept http://www.zcars.com.au/images/2010-honda-nsx1.jpg then back to a front engine concept http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200701/2009-acura-nsx-7_600x0w.jpg followed by teaser race car http://autoworld.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/honda-nsx-prototype-spy-img_1.jpg?w=510 followed by cancellation announcements The back to mid engine with rumors of hybrid tech and no more V-10 like they originally announced. followed by a new concept that was uglified by that damn acura beak! http://www.2dayblog.com/images/2012/january/550x-acura-nsx-concept-4.jpg followed by an even worse version in the Avengers http://images.freshnessmag.com/wp-content/uploads//2011/10/honda-nsx-tony-stark-00.jpg followed by a rehash of the same damn concept with minor changes 1 year and 3 months later http://images.thecarconnection.com/lrg/2014-acura-nsx-concept-at-the-2013-detroit-auto-show_100416113_l.jpg followed by a seinfield ad when he pretends to buy this still freaking non existent car ..... .... then after ALL THAT you decide that what the public wants after 8 years is a "teaser" of the NSX that is basically the concept car covered in blue vinyl?!!>!?!??!?!??! to that i say F.U. and keep your damn NSX. Im tired of this sh!t and have zero faith that after 8 years of d!cking around that you will produce anything remotely worthy of the name NSX or that you as a company even still understand what made the NSX great in the first place.

They have been hyping this car for years, by the time they actually release it, it will be all yesterdays news and technolgy!

You do realise that Jaguar, Ferrari & McLaren are all developing hybrid halo cars, right? And, surprise surprise, Honda has had this in development for years. Inordinately long wait aside, Honda's ahead of the curve and this, finally, is a true philosophical successor to the NSX

No, they've only been hyping the mid-engined NSX for the last 2 years. The original V10 NSX was announced back in '04 or something, and was scrapped around 2010. They are two completely different cars.

i will admit i am not much of an NSX fan, this version is too civic/accord coupe looking to me. the sweet thing to me, from a design/aesthetic only angle is that the original NSX didn't look like anything else on the road or the acura/honda line up. there is a guy in my building where i work that brings his in now and then and it is unmistakable on it's own. sometimes when i see pics of this i think oh, that's the new civic or accord coupe. i miss that gut reaction i have of going, woah, there's an NSX. but maybe in real life, this version will have more visual uniqueness in the honda brand. i hope so, cause i like the reaction i get in my gut with the last NSX.

Its a good thing that it looks more acura/honda like. The original NSX design was inspired by the earlier Ferraris, which is also very nice in design. but it wouldn't make any sense for a major car company such as Acura/Honda to still get inspiration from other Super car company to make their own Super car. That would be stooping down to Hyundai/Kia level.

well i think the original NSX looked like part of the honda/acura family/design language of the time, i just didn't confuse it with the rest of their line up. sometimes when i see pics of this car, esp when thumbnailed, i think it's a tuned/modded civic or accord coupe at first glance. but like i said, i've never been a big NSX fan, though i respect the machine a lot, and have as I got older, come to like the original NSX. i'm just 8 years behind the curve it seems :) thanks for your reply, good stuff!

I don't like this NSX, The design is following Acura's design language. It should be the other way, the supercar should influence the future of Acura's design language or simply non at all.

Most boring sportscar ever. I think the previous concept had a much better design : http://www.zerotohundred.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Honda-HSV-010.jpg
