What's not to like about saving fuel on your daily commute? Really, if you have to drive yourself to work every day, you may as well do it in the most efficient vehicle available, right? Well, at least one criminal in Arlington, Virginia seems to disagree. According to WUSA9, a local news station, a total of 16 vehicles had their tires slashed last Sunday night, most of them being Toyota Prius hybrids.

There was a time not long ago that some environmentalists hated such gas-guzzling beasts as the Hummer H2 so much that they vandalized them. It would appear the tables have turned... and regardless of what vehicles are being targeted, it's a lousy – not to mention illegal – way to try and make a point.

See the local news report in the video below.

"Prius Envy" LOL! That's a good one! Thanks for that. :) Really though, despite my last comment, I have nothing against Prius drivers, was just having fun. But the whole "Prius Envy" thing... OMG, that's rich.

It was probably Virginia Governor Bob McDonell. After VA residents didn't go along with his repulsive plan to charge fuel-efficient car owners a $100 annual fee, maybe he's taking matters into his own hands. http://wtvr.com/2013/01/31/hybrid-owners-protest-mcdonnells-transportation-plan/

Probably a left winger trying to get attention. A woman at the Zimmerman trial with a sign, 'racist and proud' was found to be a hard lefty, but just wanted to not let a good crisis go to waste. This strategy is outlined in the opening pages of Saul Alinsky's Rukes for Radicals.

The fact is, prior to any tea party protest, the word goes out to left wingers and they show up in force, holding outrageous signs, to try to discredit the tea party. The tea party members now bring signs with arrows, "left wing plant" so that when the media tries to take photos, they cannot get a good photo without the other sign there. Hence, they never take photos. Why ruin the narrative. At the same time, they never report of the lefties throwing urine and feces, so that cities have to pass ordinances banning the carrying of urine and feces. As yourseslves - how often do the tea party people riot, burn buildings, take hostages, spray paint, smash windows, throw urine and feces? They leave and the place is cleaner than they found it. Left wingers are violent by nature, since they are ruled by emotion and not logic and rational thought. They also have no morals nor values, hence, they think throwing urine and feces is a good thing, and that burning the flag is patriotic. It's the way left wingers are.

Where was I wrong? Do I need to post articles on left wingers smashing windows, setting buildings on fire,or throwing urine and feces? Or articles on cities having to react to the throwing of urine and feces by passing ordinances against it? Or should I simply post pictures?

Right winger or left winger, it doesn't matter. It's just some jerk kid who doesn't represent either side, and who needs to spend some time in jail.

@ BipDBo' Agreed, although possibly not imprisonment. Community service repairing damaged or vandalized cars and other property, might be more appropriate.

Chris Mathews from MSNBC referred to Alinsky as one of the "heros of the sixties.' He also said, "It’s so interesting, because Saul Alinsky, who I admire in so many ways" Hillary Clinton's college thesis was on Alinksy, and was offered a job by him after she graduated (she refused to practice law). Chris Mathews, of course, was a long time aid to House Speaker, Tip O'Neil Other than that, you are correct.

Let him come to Texas and try that. He'll got shot by the time he gets to the 3rd car. In Texas even Prius drivers are packing.

I couldn't help but laugh at the fact that there are still people around that childish to do that. I bet the vandal is just some stupid kid, or those drunken frats or whatever you guys in the US are forced to deal with. As if being an internet troll wasn't doing enough for them.

I think it's Giza. Somehow, he made it across the Atlantic, and landed first in VA. Watch out, he's making his way across the continent - I'd suspect he's heading towards Fremont, CA, to finally get his vengeance!

@ bluepongo1 You are a weird individual. Why would I 'exact revenge' on Prius ? I have owned 7 Prius, (still have three) . In addition to it's big brother the Lexus 450 h. I supply 14 Volt/Ampera's company cars, to my UK employees, and drive a Liberty Electric Range Rover. Over the last 16 years, I have built, or had built, more than 500 specialist EV vehicles. (About the only opinion where DF/Giza and I agree, would be our dislike of SUV's that never leave the highway. However absurd and delusional DF/Giza maybe, I do not believe he would ever involve himself in acts of vandalism ! )

@ Marco what's weird is the" Prius thing " in the obvious satirical story was the thing that bothered you (not that you and Giza "hang out" and have a grudge against Tesla.) .BTW + 100 for Giza playing along with the joke & - 100 for you not getting it.

.... Suddenly next July 4th : (after many slow charges of his tiny battery, many rebuilds of his entire tube framed,dc powered, chain driven, Space Mountain seat configured, and shoddy electric go-kart) Giza & Marco exact their revenge in CA and cackle in victory!!!! :-P

While I can't promote destruction of property for it. I will say that Prius drivers are kind of like the scourge of the commute road these days. More often than not the ones who are cutting me off, speeding, weaving in traffic, etc. So, when I see news like this, I'm not exactly surprised nor up in arms about it.

@ Kevin Gregerson, Yeah, Kevin a Prius is just the sort of vehicle much desired by speeding drivers, weaving through the traffic, and racing past BMW's, Porsche, Mustangs and Corvettes ! Could be a reason why Prius are so sought after as getaway vehicles ! That's why cops are always on the look out for street gangs in their favorite ride, the Prius ! Good grief Kevin, take a reality check. (Such a good reason to slash the tyres on these little "hoonmobiles")
