It looks like this McLaren MP4-12C is recovering from a touch of plastic surgery, and our spy shooters who caught it at the Nürburgring say that a minor headlight and bumper facelift is on the way. Juicier things could be happening in the rear, though, with the suggestion that horsepower from the 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 will rise from 616 horsepower to somewhere around 650 hp.

The fact that the changes are modest suggest we could see the facelifted model as soon as the Frankfurt Motor Show in about six weeks.

this car is barely 2 years old and they're already facelifting it? I realize they are OBSESSED with staying ahead of Ferrari (just look at them scrambling to improve the P1's numbers pre-launch to keep up with LaFerrari) but considering the Scuderia version of the 458 is coming up soon, will they do an additional modification to the MP4 just to stay ahead of THAT?

From the start, they said they would not behave like a regular car company usually, and that their Formula 1 culture would be part of their 'DNA'. They have already updated the car once, and this will be the second time in less than two years on the market, so they're as good as their word.

does a low volume super car really need to be facelifted every three years?

Hopefully this develops better than the MP4-28 is.

I love this car, but I agree, it needs more flair, especially on the inside. The inside is woefully drab and plain compared to the interior of a Ferrari, hell it is plain and drab compared to the inside of a Gallardo and I consider that plain compared to a Ferrari.
