In preparation for the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb being held later this month, Sébastien Loeb is getting in his first testing sessions of his Red Bull-sponsored Peugeot 208 T16 racecar. Marking its return to Pikes Peak for the first time in 14 years, Peugeot has released an exciting video that provides a look into the background behind this effort, as well as our first look at the car in its race-ready Red Bull livery.

Loeb, a Pikes Peak rookie, will be driving this specially modified 208 T16 in the Unlimited class with an 875-horsepower, twin-turbo V6 mounted in the rear. The video gives us an excellent perspective as the racecar rockets up the hill, and we all get to hear the powerful engine in action. Scroll down to watch this video, and we'll have more coverage of the race in a couple of weeks.

Perfect use of Loeb's extra-human car handling skills. Love how the dust kicked up shows how well that huge wing is working. Kinda of a mutated WRC car on steroids, with extra meth. And you are right - it does look a bit like the FRS - especially the nose.

No one else notice that he was 25 seconds faster than Millen?

I noticed, and ~40 seconds faster than Dallenbach. I smell a new record in the works.

Haven't watched the video yet, but am I the only one who pictured this thing making its own sound effects out of that gaping mouth/grill? "Wa-AAAAAAAAAAAAAA-hck-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-hck-WAAAAAAaaaaa..."

But you can't hear it. The Dip SH#T with the music has it turned up too loud!

Without that redbull paint job, this effort doesn't happen.

I can't wait to see this thing in anger. Too bad Grönholm isn't there again to make a fight along with Millen and Tajima. I think this year's Pikes Peak is really Seb's to lose, though. On another note, it sucks that it's asphalt all the way up (I know, I know, it's a public road and all that...).

So this thing is a full tube chassis, mid engine, twin turbo v6 with carbon body. Very cool, but exactly what does it have to do with Peugeot 208?

Yeah, that doesn't make it a 208 either. If you skin the 908 prototype with 4 door body, would you call it a Peugeot 508? It's the same issue here as with Nascar: marketing people think we're all stupid and try to attach retail model names to things that have literally nothing to do with them. That thing would've been way cooler if they skinned it a la Radical or similar hill climb prototype.
