The coming Audi A8 has already been spotted in camouflage on public roads at earthly elevations, and now our snappers have caught it at elevation in the Alps. The evolution will entail modified head- and taillights, different sculpting for the grille and a new bumper profile said to be more in line with the A6 S Line.

Inside, there might also be adjustments made to input controls like the gesture touchpad and the MMI infotainment system that include behind-the-scenes improvements like new Nvidia Tegra chips, but such revisions are expected to be minor. With the S8 and the TDI just having been launched, don't be surprised if engine outputs also remain the same. The prevailing sneaking suspicion is that we'll see the car unveiled at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Looks like the camouflage backfired...no one would have noticed any changes if the car didn't have that swirly vinyl on.

They need to make the front of this car look more aggressive. The A8 is Audi's best-engineered, worst-looking car.

I quite like the looks, actually, especially in a darker color. Be careful what you wish for - Lexus thinks the predator grille looks "aggressive," I think it's hideous.

While I agree that it is time for Audi designs to evolve a little faster, Winnie is absolutely correct that more aggressive is not always better. The spindle grille is a perfect example of aggressive gone wrong.

Seeing lots of new ES and GS sedans on the road. A LOT. Not that there aren't a lot of Audi's too, and not that it isn't any less harder to identify each Lexus at first glance like Audi, but the spindle grille doesn't exactly scare off customers.

S8 looks great, A8 is a little disappointing in terms of looks. S-Class is the more stylish car.

Some of you guys can hate all you want on this car but the fact is not every one is suddenly buying Tesla's. For the nouveau riche this car is actually climbing up their charts. I work in tech and see most of my collegues in companies that have recently IPO'd buying cars like this along with their fancy sport cars. I guess it takes a certain level of income and social circles to understand why owning a landboat like an A8 is not as bad as you people think it to be.

They can change it all they want. It will still get outsold by the Tesla Model S.

I looks more like other Audis, which look like all other Audis. Oops. If it weren't for the gaping maw of the grill, they would be called boring. Styling is subjective, but I see them as boring with a cartoonish grills.

'Audi facelift' is just another way of saying 'same design with new LEDs'

I seriously can't tell the different models apart anymore unless they're all parked next to each other so I can compare the sizes.

I am, and I can't tell one Audi from the next at first glance or even long stare. In fact, as a "car person" I'm so bored by such bland looking sedans that I don't really care frankly. The RS4 stands out a bit more, but mostly because the douche bag behind the wheel is driving it like, well, a douche bag. I know damn well when I see an R8 though.

No kidding. I pride myself on knowing the minute differences between a '70 and '71 Datsun 510. An '81 and '82 Volvo DL. Hells bells if I can tell the difference between a 2006 Audi and a 2014 Audi. As clean and refined as they are, they are truly the most boring brand on the planet. Even the new Mitsubishi Mirage is more eye-candy than a new Audi and it's atrocious looking but at least interesting.

Why even bother? This generic piece of poo is almost as bland as the Lexus LS...The squiggle paper isn\'t hiding much Audi..same thing yet again
