Model year 2005-2010 Grand Cherokees are under recall (... Model year 2005-2010 Grand Cherokees are under recall (Chrysler).
Chrysler is recalling 469,000 Jeep SUVs worldwide because they can shift into neutral without warning on start-up.

The recall affects 2005 to 2010 Grand Cherokees and 2006 to 2010 Commanders.

U.S. safety regulators say cracks in a circuit board can cause a faulty signal as the SUVs are being started. If the vehicles shift into neutral they can roll away.

Chrysler says the problem has caused 26 crashes and two injuries.

Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will update software to take care of the problem. Chrysler found cracks in a circuit board that turns the four-wheel-drive system on and off.

Repairs will be made at no cost to owners.

The recall covers 295,000 vehicles in the U.S., 28,500 in Canada, and 4,200 in Mexico. The remaining 141,000 are outside North America.

The company says in documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Administration that it began looking into the problem after a customer complained that an SUV rolled away in January of 2012 after being started remotely.

The recall impacts the previous generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, not the one Chrysler is selling today.

In the 60's and 70's I was all for chrysler products. I had a Barracuda, Charger, Roadrunner, and GTX. I couldn't believe how poorly the vehicles of the 80's performed and since then it just got worse. I now hate all Chrysler products. I have had nothing but trouble with them and the service is expensive and unbelievably bad. I don't understand why they where committed to commit industry suicide but they have. If they disappeared, my friends and I wouldn't shed a tear. They SUCK!

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The last I heard, there were 43 deaths from the car igniting when rearended because the gas tank was is in the back. I get so nervous when I brake. I especially get nervous when I fill the tank. I've almost caused accidents because I'm always looking out of my rear view mirror. I can't afford a new car and wouldn't sell this one to an unsuspecting next victim. Why was there no recall? I called for answers and got none. Please pray for me. Thank you.
