Car in free fall

A friendly piece of advice, don't ever park on a bridge. This car owner in The Netherlands is certainly wishing he had found a more solid parking spot.

Good Morning America featured this video of a car sliding down a drawbridge and smashing on the ground below this morning.

The video was taken in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on the the Van Brienenoord Bridge. The car actually lasts quite a while, but gravity was too much for the car's parking brake and down it crashed. Ouch.

      Lol, is everyone blind!?!?!?!? That is an ATV!!!! Absolutely no resemblance to a CAR!!! Clearly no one was even on it when it crashed.

        Plus the MSN Report that show at the end of the video clearly calls is a "QUAD"

      Good thing the bridge operator won't get in trouble for it...living in an area with bridges thatrise and turn, these evens are scheduled and publicly announced to let those traveling to expect delays....however, this IS in the Netherlands, so who knows if this is the case with them, or if it's on a fully automated system and nobody actually mans the rising of the bridges out there....for the person who said that the car in the image really ins't a car, but a quad because "cars are a little bigger", obviously never saw a "smart" car.

      OMG! So if nobody was injured, what happened to the driver of the car? I read the comment that the car was being tested for parking brake function but logic and common sense say otherwise. There are better ways of testing the brake that does not involve total destruction of the car. Besides that, who the devil tests the brake on a draw bridge? Short of bolting the car to the bridge, there is nothing that is going to stop the car from going down like it did. I just hope the insurance doesn't pay, this one should be on the owner not the insurance!

      Sue the bridge operator...should have checked to insure bridge was clear before opening it.

        @gov111w
        Then the city should sue the owner for leaving it there and destroying the pavement. The people who saw it happen should sue the owner and city for having to witness such a tragic thing, the state should sue the city for bad publicity and everyone should sue you for suing everyone else. Then the owner should be sued by the city and state to pay for repiars to the roadway. And he should go to jail for being stupid. Stupid like people who want to sue everyone for anything.

      Get ready for "no parking on drawbridges" to start get written in as exclusions to your auto insurance policies after this.

      The funny part is that the owner of the car was the bridge operator
