Proving that speed is fun in any language, Nissan's German arm recently pitted a GT-R up against an ex-Swiss Air Force fighter jet, called the Hawker Hunter. Now the idea of a car-versus-plane drag race is nothing new, but this is the first time we can recall a GT-R being involved.

While this Nissan video is almost a month old, we're pretty sure you won't be disappointed by the action, which shows the two high-speed machines racing along the two-kilometer runway. We don't want to ruin the suspense, so scroll down for the latest matchup of sports car versus fighter jet.

I, for one, found this video entertaining to watch. A drag race is a drag race.

I couldn't look away from the horror of that scarf. Easily added 100 pounds to the Nissan.

The Hawker Hunter is a nice fighter, for the 1950's. Subsonic. Try the drag race again, only this time against say, an F-16, F-15, F-18, or maybe an F-22. Using full afterburner, any of these aircraft will accelerate at more than 1 g (more thrust than weight).

They'd rather brag about having more power they can't even put down until the wheels stop spinning at 80mph. To americans breaking the tires free is fun..... To me it means you're losing. I just want AWD to avoid that and snap necks from all the acceleration.

Tell that to the guy who built the 276mph standing mile Ford GT. Wheres that standing mile AWD car you're talking about that is faster? Oh wait...there isn't Tell that to guys who drag race top fuel cars that are the fastest accelerating cars in the world in the quarter mile. Guess which wheels power those cars ace? Or how about you tell that to an F1 driver pulling 5-6Gs through Eau Rouge at Spa. AWD is ONE way of going fast. It is not THE way to go fast. Now what were you saying about losing?

different countries have different way of having fun. why shouldn't one be different from another. kudos to you for liking AWD and that's your business, but some of us like doing donuts. to you it means losing, but to us that's power and means you're square douche

No they don't. All they are good at is straight line drag races. Wait a min... The GT-R does it in 2.9 sec to 60... Never mind.

Hey, this is cool--a totally new and original idea. Oh wait, sorry. Wrong. This has been done a billion times, including Top Gear (the End All Be All car show). This **** is derivative and boring--why does anyone still do it let alone post it?

It was pretty original when Nissan did it the first time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEnJOIH1l5A) which is why it won so many awards as a commercial. Pfft Top Gear.

The most unpredictable thing about this video was the guy's scarf. Still, cool video.

I really wish this vehicle look better instead of like an old Mitsubishi Eclipse, I would trade my Vette in immediately!!! The Nissan GT-R excels in every category when it comes to power, performance and reliability until it comes to the looks category- I most definitely would require a 90+ thousand dollar vehicle to be pleasing to the eye-

Yep, Thats because my 2012 Vette is a POS Only 3300 miles and it has a rear main oil leak- So very pathetic for American auto quality-

@ hchevy: Oh because the Vette is so amazing with its Rubbermaid plastic interior, and it's highly advanced leaf spring suspension?

Which Oris is in the video? I cannot find it on Oris' website; although it appears similar to the Oris Big Crown X1 Calculator. I like the timepiece.
